little painted things
In the dark winter days of 2023 I started taking ceramics classes, primarily to get out of the house and be in the company of other humans. Since then, I have amassed a collection of small and imperfect vases. While I don’t consider myself a potter, I am an obsessive person preoccupied with creating precise and detailed work I can get lost in.
These two little vases are the first finished pieces of my experiments with underglaze. The color isn’t quite what I anticipated, but I’m happy with it nonetheless. The clear glaze caused some weird issues with air bubbles and rough patches. It’s what I get for jumping straight in without doing any glaze testing… really patient in some areas, not so much in others. I clearly have a lot to learn, but open to any and all suggestions from experienced potters.
I’ll probably paint more when I can find the time. Just one can take almost a full work day, not including the pre-painting design and layout time…. just sayin’. For fun for now.
