Sunday GALA 2025… the best one so far! 🥹🫶 Mini essay incoming… 4th Sunday at Gala and honestly it’s started to feel like a yearly trip to church. 4 years of some combination of Antal, Hunee and/ or Palms Trax and they just get better each time. So much love and support at this one, particularly from my heroes and biggest inspirations @antalheitlager & @hunchmusic - and this was defo my favourite ever set by them. They really were on fire 🔥 I first learnt about this music in Portugal through a fellow tennis coach @caldo_verde - who also showed me these amazing DJs. From them I learnt how to put it together. For these things I’ll always be grateful ❤️ 7 years later here I am chatting with them, listening to them play edits and digs I’ve sent, and even working with Antal on the distribution side for my label @vishmattre from @dardisku_records & my good friend @chebmimo_ also deserve shoutouts for their constant support, kind words and inspiring DJ sets 🔥 This music game is sometimes very hard and can feel too much like a competition. But days like this are what it’s all about! Big thank you to the people that recognised me and said hi! Happy to be the internet’s “zouk guy” as a couple of you put it (my taste is broader but it’s fine lol)… those kind words really keep me going. To the guy who said I’m a genius I will try very hard not to let that ego rocket fuel go straight to my head 😂 the genius is the ppl who made the music… I’m just a nerd for it lol 🤓 I took way too many videos hope you enjoy - here are my ones 1. Feeling very grateful watching these back… massive thank you to @folamour_fhuo for the belief, support and trust to warm up for this amazing crowd @letrabendo 🙏 The clips pretty much work backwards from the end of the set… the final moments were particularly special as I closed with a fresh new edit from Raoul Denis Jr I was a bit nervous as the track I edited “mizikasion” is quite deep… however it was clear the emotion wasn’t lost on the crowd and the vibes were immaculate ❤️ There was zouk, soca, latin house, a selection of some of my favourite picks from across the African continent, and even some italo thrown in for good measure. Feel free to ask for IDs if there’s anything you like, always happy to share! Defo one of my favourite weekends in a while - thank you to the whole Folamour team for being amazing hosts, and to everyone who came down, danced and helped make it such a special one. So Yh this crazy thing happened… For quite some time @myanalogjournal has probably been my favorite YouTube channel. I often keep a MAJ tab open… shoutout to @poly_ritmo , @distantrhythm and @volta45_ to name a few of my favs To be part of this wonderful channel showcasing a style of music so important to me with my favorite records is truly one of those dream come true events Americans have shark week, last week was zouk week… it started off with a new edit (copyright overlords wouldn’t let me upload the Battery Crémil… luckily had a nice Vado Semedo in the bank) Then my zouk history post for @pufcollective - this MAJ mix is the final culmination of zouk week It’s been especially heart warming to see all the lovely comments from both friends and the sprawling MAJ audience ❤️ To have people from Guadeloupe say they loved and are touched by the show means the world I tried to slowly build the energy with emotive, energetic zouk records… tracks that elicit a feeling of euphoria to reflect the courageous nature of the genre (especially with the horns/trumpets) What Zag has built is truly remarkable… and it’s an honour to be part of it. I urge anyone who hasn’t already to check out the show… and thank you so much to those that have! I only showcased a fraction of the beautiful Antillean music that’s out there - both the mix and my @discotheque_tropicale have a shared goal… to spotlight, advocate and promote the amazing soulful, sun filled music that can be found across the globe (with a special focus on Afro-Caribbean sounds) I’d be wrong not to shoutout my fellow DT crew members… @sunni.d__ @0marsultani @matty_s_vinyl I love you all and couldn’t do it without you xx If anyone feels inspired to do their own research I’d urge them to chase that feeling… this music runs deep and on a final note I’d like to thank the many talented Antillean artists for their wonderful musical contributions over the years - especially those of Guadeloupe & Martinique in the late 70s to early 90s. Another amazing Kingsday… they say 3rd time’s the charm! Huge thank you to @junglejuice.records for inviting me back and making the trip possible 🇳🇱🧡 Had the best time playing to a PACKED @yellowhouse.amsterdam - as you can see enjoyed playing 2 big killers from our next @discotheque_tropicale release (keep an eye out for that 👀). And the b2b with the @sentinelislanddisco guys was super fun… their set was awesome too! I’ve been online friends with @bongobarns & @coco.disco for years! As fellow tropical music nerds that are deep in the game - they heavily inspired us @discotheque_tropicale so was a nice full circle moment to share some lovely music together 🌴 After the gig we went to a crazy afterparty run by doppelgänger @riktan_ - rarely do you see bouncers on the door of a house party! B4b with the sentinel guys & @arammukanay was wicked - nothing like shelling out some hot, sweaty 140+ bpm rai trance, funana, gumbe & bubbling bangers 🔥 Also had a great time and another fantastic meal @cornerstore.ams …and on kingsday b2b with my friend @toonkuijsters @dameaandekade - always lovely to play this kind of music with people that really share the same taste! After this headed straight to @lofi.amsterdam to catch @hunchmusic - he never disappoints and delivered an awesome set. Cherry on the cake was hearing him mix in one of the edits from my upcoming @love.connection_djs release as I walked into the venue - Can’t wait to put on my dancing shoes and catch the holy trinity at Gala in a couple weeks! 💃 Defo another one for the books - thank you Amsterdam! 🌷

Just getting round to sharing about a super fun ‘Paradise for All’ party @thejagodalston last week - big thanks to my brother in zouk @tall.nico for making it happen! ❤️ Having been a fan of his production for years - and more recently with his amazing band @stellaandthelongos who I’ve seen play live twice… it was such a pleasure to share the decks with @ed__longo There was a real synergy and the music was on point all night - I thoroughly enjoyed our B3b at the end as well 🔥 Big thanks to all the dancers!
