Day 3. Rationing our food. If you’ve ever read the book Endurance, this is the moment that the ship got crushed between the glaciers and the crew realized they would not be boarding their ship, ever again.
Had an unusual, outrageous, and comical weekend in Brooklyn. After the heaviest snowfall of the last few years and now an uncharacteristically cold week of 5 degrees, there’s nothing like exploding transformers underground to celebrate our first winter. Many were worried about how they might cope with no heating, no television, or no lights. I did what our great nations founding fathers would have done. I took to the ink and quill.
A few days of Prague-Rock trailing @clixr through Vienna, Bratislava, and Prague. Saw Mozart’s apartment, drank absinthe with a beetle in it, was reminded of the shortness of American history and, most importantly, saw Claire seemingly expel a demon during her performance of Mortal Hide.
Some snaps of our first month in Brooklyn with new friends, new views, delicious cocktails, and a lot of animals. Thanks to everyone who’ve been a part of making this new city feel like home for @beaksnbooks and I. Also, shoutout to @bar.reve.nyc for hosting us last night! Great new spot in the neighborhood.
Huge congratulations to @ajrbrothers on this new EP out today. For a year that there was supposed to be no new music, they somehow turned out my favorite songs they’ve ever written. Vulnerable, painfully honest, and just real shit. Give it a listen. If you can’t find a song that moves you on here, you just might be emotionally dead inside - in which case I’m sorry to hear that.
This weekend marks the 5th anniversary for @beaksnbooks and I, and 7th year since we started dating. She truly turned my world upside down. I never imagined the life we’d have together or the places we’d go and as amazing as it’s all been so far, I can’t help but feel the best is yet to come. I love you Margarita. I could name 1,000 things I’m thankful to you for, but top of the list is the love you show every person you meet and the joy you bring to every room. I strive to be a better person every day precisely because of you ❤️. Can’t wait to destroy the streets of Brooklyn with you :)
Couldn’t be more excited to share this release by @avercc called “Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night” that’s out now. Last Summer, @steviegpro2.0 , who’s been a friend, partner, and mentor to me through almost the last decade asked if I wanted to try my hand at starting a JV under S-Curve Records. Avery is the beginning of that new journey and couldn’t be more proud of her, this song, and the many many months it took to get this song to its final form.
Avery, thanks for your blind faith in us. You wrote a remarkable song and believe we made something equally special out of it.
Steve, thank you for giving my ears a shot. It’s something I’ve actually wanted to do since I moved to LA at 19 and couldn’t be more grateful to be doing this together.
