By utilizing the site's natural slope, we positioned this spacious Master bedroom on the upper level to maximize privacy. To maintain a minimalist feel, we used a subtle color scheme, clean lines, and a camouflage door that seamlessly conceals the walk-in closet and washrooms. The room then extends outward onto a large balcony, offering uninterrupted views of the valley and surrounding hills. Kaularu House by JONQUIL DESIGN STUDIO Set on a one-acre plot in the verdant Konkan region of Maharashtra, this farmhouse is thoughtfully designed to exist in harmony with its natural surroundings. The site itself possessed a tranquil charm, with banana groves, native fruit-bearing trees, an old water well, and a small temple that imbued the land with a quiet spiritual presence. Rather than reshaping the terrain, the design approach embraced these feature allowing the architecture to evolve around them while preserving the site’s inherent character. Spanning 2,400 sq. ft., the home reflects a sensitive blend of tradition and modern comfort. Rooted in vernacular architecture, it incorporates locally sourced materials such as laterite stone, clay roof tiles, and wood elements that not only respond to the climate but also celebrate the cultural and architectural heritage of the region.
