Thankful for this collab with @open.standard ! 25 vases, each unique. A study of form and technique. I’m always amazed with how the slightest adjustments to the curve of a vessel can significantly change how it looks. Porcelain. Matte white glaze. (Taking suggestions for what we should call these. The kids all voted “Marshmallow Series”.)
A cluster. A patch. A gregarious grouping. These pieces stand alone but somehow feel better together through contrast of proportion and scale. Someday, I will make a forest of these.
Earlier this month, I did a thing where I exhibited and sold my ceramics to friends and family. It honestly felt strange to put these objects so personal to me out into the world.
Maybe for some, a bowl is just a bowl, but for me, it’s a lot more - it’s a journey. It’s an exploration of color and function and form. It’s pushing ability while simultaneously showing restraint. It’s an emotional outlet. It’s also a bowl. 😅
Thanks to everyone who showed up to celebrate this journey with me. To those who went home with one or two or more of the 100 pieces I brought, I hope you find some pleasure in using or gifting your piece(s) and remember a little bit of its journey.
Photos by @jatinc and @shashimara (my brother flew from the east coast just to be here!). Thank you also to those who helped with setup and breakdown and packing up things. You know who you are 😘.
