SAVAGE! The first emerging artists competition happened February 14th @artmelanated and @bandofvices . Jubilant I think is the word…. This experience has been everything and more. Thank you @solaponte and @jenniafredrique for the work you do and being a megaphone for creative voices, I am beyond thankful. And to all the artist in this show, you are amazıng and shined SO bright. I’m extremely honored to be a finalist and 1st runner up! I’m SO grateful to have a sold out show!!! 🫨 My current body of work centers on the relationship between pop culture, nature, and young Black male identity, with a whimsical twist. The work is made entirely of soft pastels, my favorite medium. This journey as a creative has been inspired by my matrilineal DNA. My grandmother was a self-taught artist, my mother is a local artist @dmartinbarber , and my sister is an art scholar and curator @tiffanyebarber . My home environment was filled with contemporary art, art books, and multicultural home décor. The exhibit is named after Augusta Savage a visionart artist during the Harlem Renaissance, and will run through March 14 at Band of Vices.

An enlightening weekend to say the least I Love Boosters was a masterclass as expected 🤌🏾 And to have gained insight into Boot’s process even a little was pleasure. I am a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist who is passionate about color and design. My practice spans photography, film, music production, fashion design, and drawing. When using my favorite medium, soft pastels, I enjoy the challenge of blending colors to get specific hues and shades that range from vibrant to earth tones. Growing up in a highly creative household, I take pride in my strong matrilineal artistic DNA. My grandmother was a self-taught artist, my mother is a local artist, and my sister is an art scholar and curator. My inspiration stems from my home environment, which is filled with contemporary art, art books, and multicultural home décor. My goal is to create vibrant, unconventional art that evokes curiosity while also conveying the unique rhythm of the collaged hip hop references that populate my work.
