Most people know me as an artist, but what I haven’t shared is that I’ve also spent the last nine years building a career in advertising. Growing up as a Black boy in Orange County was often an isolating experience. Being recognized by the NAACP Orange County with the Advocacy Award feels extremely full circle. @naacpoc I’ve always used my art to expand the narrative of what Blackness looks like…to show the nuance, the beauty, and the fullness of who we are. [email protected] Featured Artist Profile | Devin Wesley Devin Wesley (b. 1993) is a Los Angeles based artist known for his black-and-white oil paintings exploring the complexity and depth of identity. A former track and field athlete, Wesley returned to his art practice in 2015 after a career-ending injury. Drawing from personal experiences of resilience, transformation, and healing, he uses portraiture as a mirror - inviting viewers to look inward and reflect on the inner world they carry.   Through figurative realism and the interplay of light and shadow, he honors emotional and spiritual fullness, challenging narrow representation and illuminating the nuanced, non-monolithic nature of Black life.   Beyond the canvas, Wesley uses his work as a tool for social impact. He has collaborated with Pattern Beauty, Adobe, YouTube, BET, and Listos California on projects addressing racial inequality, mental wellness, and climate change. His work has been featured in curated group exhibitions and major art fairs, including Frieze Los Angeles (2024).   Band of Vices - DTLA
