“DREAM SEQUENCE” DANCE EPISODE 3- When the character Sean (7years old) played by @lilmanatticus uses the N word for the first time, his parents, characters Ashely and Miles try their best to explain the complexities of that word and why he shouldn’t use it. The conversation with Sean in the episode ends up seamlessly transitioning into one of my all time favorite dance pieces in @blindspottingstarz history. Being able to tell this powerful story through movement art & dance was truly an honor and a privilege. Thank you @rafaelcasal @daveeddiggs @keithcalder and especially the director of this amazing episode 3 Jess Wu Calder, for trusting my artistry. We made dance history with this one. Joining him are special guests Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble (@dralfiee ) and Mohsin Mohi Ud Din (@allplacesfromhere ). Dr. Alfiee brings together science, compassion, and cultural insight to reshape conversations around emotional wellness. Mohi Ud Din is a multidisciplinary artist, community builder, and founder of the global storytelling nonprofit MeWe International @meweinternational . The evening begins at Center Stage Theater and continues with a reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara / the Arts Terrace at Paseo Nuevo. Tickets are available through Center Stage Theater (QR code on flyer). All proceeds directly support the artists and their impactful work. The director of @michaelmovie , @antoinefuqua , as a Black director myself, it was an honor to watch him at work. Seeing him channel his creative genius into telling this legendary story was truly inspiring. I strive to be the best director I can be, but witnessing the greats, as Michael did, and using that inspiration to amplify your own greatness, that’s where it’s at. God couldn’t have written a better story. Michael Jackson was my inspiration to start dancing, and his influence led me to fall in love with Popping and street dance. This moment is truly surreal. The five-year-old me would have never believed it. I’m honored to be representing real Popping culture in “Michael” @michaelmovie To have the opportunity to represent the street dance lineage and MJ’s connection to it in such a monumental film is unbelievable.
