After debuting at the Tribeca Festival last summer, ‘Billy Idol Should Be Dead’ opens today in theaters across the US and Canada. Jonas Åkerlund’s documentary about the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nominee also now has an official trailer, premiering exclusively on Stereogum.
Produced by Live Nation Studios, ‘Billy Idol Should Be Dead’ takes a deep dive into the career trajectory of its namesake rock ‘n’ roll icon, from his early days in London’s pioneering punk rock scene through his rise to MTV-fueled superstardom (and each near-death experience along the way). The story is told through never-before-seen archival and personal interviews with Idol, his family, friends, and collaborators.
