Some tips for the Snowdonia 100k. Still time to make sure you execute your race well (it’s not only about the training). 👊 #trailrunning

Been enjoying the road running at home lately. But time to get ready for some technical trails 🔜 another race, can you guess where?

A film crew came out last month to capture our life as «pro athletes». You might expect perfect trails, very «serious» sessions, and a full team of physios, nutritionists, and support staff. In reality, it’s a lot of road running, skimo when we can find snow, and working around the conditions we have. And yes, it’s just us. A two-person team figuring things out as we go. We don’t live somewhere that’s perfect for trail running. Snow lingers in the mountains, trails aren’t always accessible, and a lot of the time we’re working with what’s right outside our door. But it’s our corner of the world. So we make it work. Road miles, ski-mo days, and consistent training through whatever conditions we have. It’s not always what people expect. But consistency over perfection. That’s what moves the needle. PC: @hyst_erica / @thinkless.studio

@jonalbon is hacking his body with his 3D printer and magnets and @hanserino is wondering which WSER qualifier to run this year. Find out more in this week’s episode of Road To States. Out on YouTube now!

You know you’re a trail runner when you show up to a skimo race: • Wearing a race vest (under your skimo bag) • Fueling at 100g carbs/hour • Podium thanks to a sub 3:00/km sprint finish… carrying skis and boots In all seriousness huge kudos to @romsdalrando for putting on an epic event in our backyard 🙌 Also a good reminder how fun it is to race with zero expectations, just push hard and enjoy it. There’s something about preparing for a race like this at this time of year. Starting early November, building gradually through the winter months… it’s a different kind of challenge. Less straightforward, more dependent on adapting to conditions and planning ahead, but rewarding in a way that feels unique to this season. TGC is a special course and one I really enjoy (for the most part). A course that never really lets you settle…technical, varied, always asking something new. I’m not entirely sure whether I raced it better this year or last. Two very different experiences, and a lot learned in a short space of time. Thanks to @_joshwade and @hannesnamberger for making sure there was no easing off towards the south of the island 💪🏻 Now it’s time to step back for a bit. Recover properly, then build again towards the end of June…with a bit of ski season at home, hopefully, still to come. Next race: Mont Blanc 90K

@henriettealbon & @jonalbon join the pod!! 🥳🔥 It was such a treat to have the husband and wife duo reflect on their double win at @transgrancanaria 125k. #crushers They spoke of their mindset, how they approach race tactics, problem solving, pressure, and decision making over long ultras. Check out their trail running app @ascendtrail.app and what they’ve learned from creating a training platform based on their own philosophy (spoiler- everyone needs to try this!!) Learn more about them on their podcast The Albon Way🎙️💯 This episode is edited and produced by @sandyboyproductions A big shout out to our sponsor @precisionfandh 🍹🍫 Go to pfandh.com to crush your next race with a personalized fuel & hydration plan. What does it take to run 128 km and 6,700 m of elevation across Gran Canaria in under 13 hours? We took a closer look at Jon Albon’s race data from the @transgrancanaria Classic. From the cool night start on the north coast to the heat of the southern finish, his effort remained remarkably controlled. His heart rate was carefully managed, hour after hour, with no erratic or explosive spikes. In ultra racing, success often comes down to managing effort as much as managing speed. Visit the link in bio to see how @jonalbon used COROS to manage his effort throughout the race.
