Isolation Animations 🌈
It’s fair to say I’ve clocked +200 hours of animated shows since lockdown — if you can’t tell 🤣 — so it’s time to come out of this corona-induced editing #hyperbolictimechamber and share what I’ve learned with a quick bts breakdown.

Experimenting with video, graphic design, colourgrading, 2D/3D motion, vfx and compositing.

These skills will be invaluable for the next gen of one-man-band visual creatives who wear multiple hats and are their own DP, producer, copywriter, colourist, soundie, editor and marketer.

💡Inspo: #AdventureTime. The show’s character designs seem simple enough to mimic even for a beginner animator. I always wondered if these animators had to go on crazy psychedelic trips to birth such complex ideas until I started learning myself and it’s actually pretty easy! 😂

🎬 Hot @adobe tip: ‘Double Stabilization’ for short, shaky handheld timelapses. I figured out this trick last year and have used it on all of my wonky handheld timelapses/shutter bursts since. The images were all shot handheld (no tripod) so naturally, you get a bit of camera shake even AFTER applying the standard warp stabilizer in Premiere Pro.

🎥 Double / Triple Handheld Timelapse Stabilization
First colourgrade in LR > open as layers in PS
1st stabilization: Align layers (transform on 50% opacity if you need to correct angles). This will get you 90% stable.
2nd stabilization: Premiere Pro Warp stabilizer. Should be pretty much stationary at this point.
3rd stabilization (bonus round): After Effects stabilization. (Only if you need it) Should be dead centre still at this point. It may auto-crop quite a bit so use sparingly.
Now go and fix those shakey unused timelapses!

Had fun on this little jam. Holy wow, creative burnout is real. 9-5 work edits, 5-2 client edits. So it feels good when I finally get some time to push out my own stuff and since I’m not on here as frequently, I’ve been making it a point to up the quality of my posts. I met this girl traveling in Tulum, Mexico.
She was a travel author/blogger and I was just starting to shoot for travel companies. So we teamed up.

And just so happened to go to my primary school.
And was friends with my brother.
And I never bumped into her.

We had a blast shooting the new Audi RS e-tron GT, the latest all-electric release from @audiaustralia .

Together with @demas & @itchban , we captured a ‘Dusk to Dawn’ concept, shooting within an entire 24hr window around Sydney. We each had different sets to capture with mine being cinemagraphs and animations of the car’s details.
