His interest in fashion started in his childhood, from watching runway & music videos, to pop culture and magazines - it was a place to dream. Fashion served as Milo’s armour and protected him during many phases of growth. “I come from a whakapapa of auahatanga and I like to honour my tupuna when I can. This creative process allows me to storytell my past, present and future all while allowing the wearer to embody whatever my kākahu means to them.” - Milo Matchitt Billy Blamires is a recently graduated fashion design student whose debut collection explores the concept of “spectacle” and the societal perception of queer expression through clothing. Their work challenges the fear and dismissal often projected onto bold self-expression, advocating instead for a world where people feel free to wear whatever they want, whenever they want. Drawing from personal experience, Billy sees clothing as a vital part of their journey and identity.
