On February 6, JSAC unveiled a mural as a tribute to JSAC and @eve_robotics student Zoe Maryam Alford (Feb. 6, 2006 - Jan. 31, 2023).
Zoe’s family and friends gathered for the unveiling on Zoe’s birthday. The vibrant mural decorates the exterior of the newly renamed Zoe’s Maker Space, a place where students learn and use tools to create robots. Along with other roles on her robotics team, Zoe served as Safety Captain and took pride in making sure safety standards were met.
The mural was sponsored by Carol Bowman’s @learningincolor in collaboration with @coxenterprises and designed and painted by visual artist Chane Fontaine @thechanexperience .
@learningincolor works with artists to transform K-12 spaces using color and art. Chane’s design captures the inspiring and uplifting essence of Zoe, known for her curiosity, intellect, care, and brightness!
Chane also guided @coxenterprises volunteers to help paint base colors on the mural as an MLK Day community service project.
Thank you to Zoe’s parents for sharing Zoe with us! Zoe’s parents waited until the unveiling to see the mural and then were gifted with a smaller sized replica, unveiled by Learning in Color board member Tony Alexander and artist Chane.
We at JSAC are honored to hold space for remembrance and continued inspiration.
In loving memory of Zoe Alford.

Before it became a childhood staple, the Super Soaker began as an idea from a brilliant mind. This Black History Month, we sit down with @drlonniejohnson to hear the life story behind the invention—and the journey of an innovator whose impact goes far beyond the toy aisle. 🔫

District Champs 🏆🤖 Proud of this team and everything we accomplished this season. A lot of hard work, long nights, and dedication went into this. Glad I got to be a part of it and make so many memories along the way @johnsonstemactivitycenter@novelisinc@comcast #frc #robotics #stem #georgiafirst
G3 would like to give an extra special shoutout to @johnsonstemactivitycenter (JSAC)! Since JSAC first opened its doors to us, the impact on our program has been immeasurable.
It is no coincidence that G3 has qualified for the World Championship twice since JSAC has welcomed us into their workspace. Collaborating with the other JSAC FRC teams while having access to a workshop and practice field has contributed greatly to our recent success. We truly consider it our home away from home.
Thank you for being an invaluable sponsor and partner; we are incredibly grateful for your support.
Also, thank you to Lonnie for visiting us at Worlds last year. We had a blast!
Breaking Update: @g3robotics1648 robotics has advanced to the World Championship and will compete in Houston among FRC teams from across the globe!
Congratulations to @g3robotics1648 robotics of @midtownhighfutures25 for winning the Quality Award. This award celebrates robustness in robot concept and fabrication. @g3robotics1648 is one of the school and community teams with practices spaces, access to a maker’s space and to a competition field at JSAC. They are one of the five JSAC-sponsored FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams that advanced to District season. Congratulations, @g3robotics1648 !

Team G.I.R.L had an AMAZING experience competing at the Columbus qualifier this weekend! There were a few moments where parts of Yoshi had to be rebuilt, but with grace and style, ✨ she rose up again and got her head back in the game! 😌 We are especially honored to be 2x Imagery Award recipients!!! 💗 And participating in the playoffs as a backup bot for alliance #3 was nothing short of exhilarating! Our interactions with all the other wonderful teams there was a highlight of our experience as well! All in all, we are extremely grateful to have had the beautiful opportunity to engage in the Columbus qualifier competition!!!

JSAC’s Future Innovators Day, as part of the 2026 #atlantasciencefestival, had students programming drones, building robots, exploring through VR and more. Meet the student who was attending the festival while visiting #atlanta and nicknamed “the chosen one” after a drone landed in the palm of her hand 🖐️🤣! #science #fly #drone
Team G.I.R.L had such a fun a time at the Gwinnett Qualifier! We are so grateful to have been awarded the “Imagery” award!!
