I’m thrilled and honored that my project, The Beast was included in this fantastic book by Kate Farrington. @katefarringtonphd
Place As Medium: New Grounds for Thinking in Contemporary Art. Published by Routledge
Thank you Kate, for so deeply engaging with my work in a way that sheds new light on so many of its topics, all of which remain increasingly relevant.
Farrington also does a deep dive into Theaster Gates @theastergates project 12 Ballads for Huguenot House, which I had the pleasure to be a part of. So much to chew on in this beautiful book.
One of the tantalizing questions in the chapter on shared authorship: “how can myriad elements of the world as well as people be considered as ‘authors’ of an artwork that do not experience the event as art?”
If any of y’all are in the Boston area on May 15 come and join us for the book launch. For a copy of the book along with a discount code follow the link below.
Shout out to curator, writer, thinker Leonie Bradbury @dutchgirlleonie for inviting me out to Montserrat way back in 2018 to do a project which evolved into The Beast/Herd Mentality, made from retired fishing boats.

My dear friend @normanteague gave an inspiring talk at the art Institute of chicago last Tuesday night. It reminds me what I love about being a part of this whole art/design universe. Objects can be full of love, and sadness, and suffering, and complexity, and hope… it’s all in there. I wrote about Norm and @alexchittystudio in New City in advance of their exhibition “Chair-ish” at the @clevecarneymuseumofart . Up through April 11. Reception: Feb. 28, 6-7:30
You can read the piece here:

Thanks to @newcitymag for publishing my piece on the striking paintings of @sebastianjhthomas at @zlgallery also available in the print edition.
“Sebastian Thomas appropriates the form of a morality tale while undermining its clarity, perhaps suggesting that this story of minting martyrs and villains is a played-out violence factory, nostalgic though we may be for manufactured certainties.“

I just returned from another wonderful, inspiring, rejuvenating week at @oxbowschoolofart in saugatuck, MI. I taught Open Air Furniture which resulted in a series of pieces designed to sit around the popular fire pit by the beach. The mandate was to make functional work that could survive in the elements for at least a season out of materials collected from on campus or regional thrifting excursions.
Because the students were all proficient I got to make a couple things myself out of a leaky aluminum canoe, a sheet of acrylic, a plastic bucket and some cedar.

This is work by Rama Kumanduri (@ramak_artisan ) who lives and works in Chicago. He transformed a rickety bench and some metal lawn chairs and cedar fencing.
