On Friday, April 10th @highdivemke we’ve got a fundraver on the menu. As many of you know, Cuba has been struggling with its economy and meeting its energy needs following the Trump administration's tightening of the pre-existing trade embargo and illegal invasion of Venezuela, which cut off its oil supply. As a result, some of your favorite crews have decided to collaborate to do something about that. We’ll be fundraising for the May Day Brigade (@maydaybrigade ) – an organization that collects necessary medical and power supplies and transports them directly to Cuba, where they’ll be put to use. They’ve already begun to consolidate supplies in domestic storage units and will be taking them to Cuba via chartered plane on 4/26, and funds collected will go towards supplies and flights. Music-wise, we’ll run the gamut of sounds accessible in Milwaukee’s underground scene. @djfanggg from @rhythmnraveglobal brings her signature multi-genre club sound that highlights Black contribution to electronic dance music. @ll.ego_ from @perpetual.motion_ supplies groove-forward 4 on the floor sounds. In addition, @cultivate.house brings their combination of tech/house/minimal in the form of a b3b set between @4x4saint , @bpmslide , and @liketonymusic . Bass music fan? No problem. @musicbycarsen of @headlinersonlymke is bringing the 140 bpm bass pressure, while event organizer Alex Viper (@l3ftfield ) of Shadow Frequency (@shdwfrq ) brings their high-energy breakbeat-centered sound on their birthday weekend. We’ll be running from 9pm-2am, and while not strictly required for entry, we’d suggest a $5-10 (or more if you’re feeling generous!) donation that can be made either through cash/QR code at the event or in advance directly to the May Day Brigade at the QR code in the second slide. DJing IS FUN! so smile, have a drink, laugh, react and interact with the room, they are looking to YOU to give them permission to ENJOY themselves too. We spend all this TIME and energy on MUSIC out of LOVE, and if you can’t find the joy in that, hang up your headphones and leave the building. I know because I hung up the headphones for 2 years to dedicate myself to another project. Have you ever loved something so much that you stopped doing it because you wouldn’t dare disrespect it’s significance by doing it without all your love, effort and energy? It’s a soul crushing feeling until something is awakened inside of you. That feeling came one year ago from today when my cannabis delivery company I started in 2013 was robbed by a group of criminals who eventually put my 15 employees out of a job. I never expected to return back to the decks or make tunes, but it was literally what saved my life. My girlfriend took me to see @saymynamemusic and I was almost in tears by the end of his set because after seeing his energy and and how much fun he was having behind the decks it brought back a lot of amazing memories and fun times and in a time of doubt and uncertainty provided clarity and direction I immediately cleaned out my home office and set up my production computer and CDJs. Then called my brother @dannydelorean and we picked up right where we left off and not shortly after we promoted / played a sold out show at the @dnalounge I guess the ole saying when one door closes another one opens rings true in my situation. Since that day not a day has gone by that I haven’t been in the studio and crafting sets. I took an online course and applied to be certified as an Ableton trainer. After 6 months of grindin I had about 25 original tunes in the arsenal something I could only dream about back in the day. What came next was unexpected but game changing. I met @blendsandtrends a group of standup guys that happen to be very skilled djs and real friends. They welcomed me, a Basshead, in there brotherhood with open arms. Life’s a trip! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Just remembering to smile, and have fun always! Can’t thank y’all enough 💚

I love to share music. I was the guy making mix cds for friends in high school. People came to me to find new music and artists. DJing gave me a better and bigger platform to share music. I’m at the happiest I could ever be behind the decks.
