Vida Kashani ( IR/NL ) and Johan Delétang ( FR )
Vida Kashani (b.Tehran, Iran) is a multidisciplinary visual artist, writer, and filmmaker based in The Netherlands. Her experimental essayistic moving image works interweave poetry, music, documentary, archival footage, and fiction. Her work has been showcased internationally, including exhibitions at the Millennium Film Workshop in New York, USA, the Grey Space in the Middle Gallery in The Hague, Netherlands, Hem Hem in Zaandam, Netherlands,, and the Sign Gallery in Groningen, Netherlands. In 2022, she was awarded the Emerging Film Talent Prize by the Toukomst in Provincie of Groningen.
Johan Delétang (b. Antibes, France) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans digital media, film, and text. Often, he creates images and narratives where bodily gestures, the deconstruction of cinematic language, and the use of discursive dissonances act as catalysts to probe under the surface of individual identities. His work has received international recognition and has been showcased at various exhibitions, including Gallery KG in Tokyo, Japan, and Het Hem in Zaandam, Netherlands. In 2022, Johan was honored with the Immerse/Interact grant from the NL Filmfonds and the Stimuleringsfonds Creative Industrie.

NOBODY
HD video, 14:14min, sound, colour, 2023
"Nobody" is a video installation, a collaboration between Vida Kashani, an Iranian-born artist, and Johan Delétang, a French-born artist, both currently residing in the Netherlands.
The artwork explores their shared experience of loss of spatial and cultural references due to migration. Through the use of dance, poetry, and reconstructed spaces born of colourful and moody lights, the film affectively and physically delves into their mutual longing for a home. In doing so, the work reflects on the challenges to one’s sense of self when confronted with a new environment. The dance piece featured in the video, performed by the talented Maria Mavridou, seamlessly blends delicate mythical postures with evocative and restless movements, evoking a profound sense of inner search. Complemented by the music composed by Iranian producer Kamran Arashnia, the viewer embarks on a textured and emotionally charged journey through a contemporary existential inquiry.

Some stills of my recent film ‘The Gravity Inside’. I will present some chapters during our graduation show And Other Possible Scenarios running Oct 8-10th @doorcreativestudio@hethemnl
Through the story of a break-up, ‘The Gravity Inside’ explores themes centred around friendship, love and anxiety. Employing cinema’s ability to monumentalise emotions and the details of everyday life, it makes use of time and repetition as formal components.
Many thanks and ❤️ to the amazing cast who contributed with great performances and many creative ideas:
