My little clown, currently on view at @devishalhaarlem as part of “Relationscapes: Encounters”. Really happy to be included in this show, which brings together artists working across installation and performance. It’s on view until February 8. Big thanks to @lola_bezemer and @greigburgoyne2025 for their thoughtful curation.

My horn and I wish you many merry work-free days. While there is still much to unfold before we can see the light of day, please take this as a preview of the road ahead. I am intensely grateful for the almost two months spent at @saariresidence during which my brain first liquified and then reassembled itself. And I would also like to thank @amartefonds @cultuurfonds and @afk020 for supporting this research into traditional horn-blowing practices – for those of us who are uncertain how to inhabit ceremonial spaces. The horn and I will go into hiding for a bit, travel the baltic see on our way back to Amsterdam, and then I cannot wait to continue moving and sounding with this beauty.

Snippet from 𝓉𝑜𝓌𝒶𝓇𝒹 𝒶𝓃 𝓊𝓃𝒹𝓊𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓈𝑒𝓃𝓉, already two weeks ago now, at @neverneverland_amsterdam – I’m still swooning. Fire starting was the first gesture that joined this work – when I still thought of it as a series of gestures and objects rather than a composition. Very grateful to have been included in HEDEN x Dopamine, a talk and exhibition curated by @teodora.roka at @vhdg.kunst I presented my work that for a while now has circled such themes as traditional (sonic) practices, German(ic) lore, and romanticism – and how I think of instruments as phantom limbs, where affect lingers. The installation “Eight and a Half Gestures” proposes a concert in the absence of performers, without a fixed beginning or end. Ceramic and wooden instruments share the space with objects that resist classification. The horn, as the central figure of the installation, becomes emblematic. As a signal instrument it carries histories of tradition and nationalism. It functions as a site of boundary-making, structured by assumptions about bodies, gender, and belonging. In the installation, the horn refuses this role. It is bound and suspended, reconfiguring domination as staged and reversible, closer to bondage than to ceremonial authority. The horn becomes both citation and divergence. The exhibition which also includes works by @lola_laiser and @isthisanart is still on view until April 18 The horn was crafted at @saariresidence and the research was supported by @amartefonds and @cultuurfonds

Last month: sculpting and watching cows, dad-cosplay, fairy godmothers?, score scheming and biking between my studio and Oostvaardersplassen. Getting ready to show new and old work at @vhdg.kunst and @atelierhofwerenzhain 1 - the cow-horn is finally drying 2 - me at 7 in the morning in the natuurgebied 3 - Heck cattle at Oostvaardersplassen 4 - My personal herd 5 - Devilworship 6 - cow horn in motion 7 - dreaming of and scheming scores 8 - dad-cosplay: posing with a big-boy lens (sadly not mine) 9 - sunrise 🥹 10 – “There are many accounts and pictures of meetings with fairies, with talk of changelings and fairy godmothers, all of which makes sense.” 11 – Fairy godmother? 12 - This is me making a cow relief. It takes between 30 - 60 minutes per relief, thank you for asking 13 - performance inspiration? 14 – blunch – book with lunch
