Join us on Thursday, 7 May in Stavanger for the opening of Crude Milk @studio17stavanger A work-in-progress exploring the lived experience of oil nations. Since November 2025, we’ve been developing this project through conversations with people in Stavanger, listening to how oil shapes memory, identity, and everyday life. These stories meet the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, forming a shared landscape of dependence, tension, and contradiction. The result is a two-channel video installation combining image, sound, text, slime, and plaster, building a world where mythology collides with petro-capitalism. What was once sacred, nourishment, fire, water, becomes measurable, tradable, and contested. At its core, the work asks: How do you resist a system you also benefit from? This is an ongoing project. (English in comments) این بیست عکس را که کنار هم گذاشتم، فهمیدم این چند ماه را بیشتر از آنکه زندگی کرده باشم، جمع کرده‌ام. تکه‌هایی از خانه، خیابان، آدم‌ها، عشق، بیماری، فقدان، سفر، امید. چیزهایی که آن لحظه عادی به نظر می‌رسیدند و حالا هر کدام سند زمانه‌اند. میانشان آخرین عکس پریچهرجون هست, که اولین روز جنگ بعد از دوسال جنگیدن با سرطان از بینمون رفت. بابا که صبحانه آماده می‌کنه و مامان که کوفته تبریزی درست می‌کرد تا اونروز که سیاوش می‌اومد فرشی که ازش خریده بودن رو بیاره باهاش ازش پذیرایی بکنه. تصویری از دوستی که برای زندگی می‌جنگد. شعرهایی که آرام کننده لحظات شدن. ردِ سفر زمینی در اولین روز جنگ و طبیعت زیبای ایران، لحظه‌های کوچکی از خانه که حالا بیشتر از همیشه معنا دارند. این روزها که از دور به ایران نگاه می‌کنم، فاصله چیزی را کم نمی‌کند؛ فقط شکل نگرانی را عوض می‌کند. آدم میان خبرها و خاطره‌ها معلق می‌ماند. و هم‌زمان اینجام، Stavanger، در رزیدنسی که ماه‌ها پیش برایش برنامه ریخته بودیم؛ پروژه‌ای درباره نفت. عجیب است که چیزی که قرار بود موضوع تحقیق و روایت باشد، دوباره این‌قدر عریان به سیاست، جنگ، جابه‌جایی و زندگی آدم‌ها گره خورده. شاید برای همین این عکس‌ها را می‌گذارم؛ برای ثبت کردن اینکه جهان فقط از خبرهای بزرگ ساخته نمی‌شود، از همین لحظه‌های کوچک هم ساخته می‌شود. لحظه‌هایی که ناگهان معنای دیگری پیدا می‌کنند. و فردا، در ادامه همین مسیر، فیلم One Image, Two Acts (2020) از ساناز سهرابی اکران می‌شود؛ یک فیلم-جستار درباره نفت، تصویرسازی در ایران 1908-1951

The Storm Drives Us, The Storm Holds Us (2025) Our latest two channel video installation is on show @akerk.groningen till November 23rd. This work is inspired by Walter Benjamin’s Angel of History and Paul Klee’s painting Angelus Novus. It reflects on freedom as an everyday practice rather than a fixed destination. How does freedom emerge through persistence, memory, and struggle? Past and present collide, memory and presence intertwine, traces of struggle simmer, and the story of history moves through the installation. It is a space of reflection, persistence, and transformation, where freedom is lived and never complete.
