What a journey has it been from designing scenery for this world premiere 10 years ago at @cincinnatiopera , to launching our National Tour tonight at @seattleopera , produced by @upuntilnowcollective . #fellowtravelers is an opera about a love affair between two men working for the U.S. government in 1950s Washington, D.C., set against the terror of the Lavender Scare, when suspected queer federal employees were interrogated, surveilled, and fired as “security risks.” The story shows how state-sponsored homophobia forces them to live double lives, pits love against fear and ambition, and weaponizes religion, patriotism, and morality to justify their persecution. No one should be persecuted for their love / their sexual orientation/ their gender. Period. 4 weeks ago I got a text asking if I was interested in running the NYC Marathon this year in support of YAI. 147 training miles later, I’m exactly one month away from my first NYC Marathon.
The goal is to raise $5000 in support of YAI’s mission to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we’re already ~2/3 of the way there.
If you have ever known someone in the I/DD community who has benefitted from these types of services, or far too often people who would benefit from them but are unable to gain access, this is a great opportunity to help an organization that supports over 20,000 individuals.
I greatly appreciate any donations you are able to make, and if making a donation is not a reality for you, no worries - words of support for November 2 and/or passing this along to others who may be able to donate is fantastic as well.

Quick escape to Napoli - tried as many of the things as I could. Not pictured… amazing seafood pasta, gelato (two handed affair - no time for photos), a variety of pastries & espresso, and multiple spritzes. Great break between a pair of shows in the Med.
