Looking for something different to do in Seattle? Add a little culture to your weekend
I recently saw Carmen at Seattle Opera and got a behind-the-scenes look at their costume department, so much detail and artistry goes into every single piece.
This show is perfect for a date night, Mother’s Day gift, or a night out with the girls.
If you’re lucky, you might catch, Tacoma native, J’Nai Bridges on select dates.
Huge thank you to Seattle Opera for the experience and partnership!

We think we know Carmen.
@sashamezzomama isn’t interested in that version.
Her role debut at @seattleopera reframes Bizet’s heroine as something far more complex—and far more dangerous.

Tacoma’s own Grammy award-winning mezzo-soprano @jnaibmezzo performs Carmen’s alluring and tuneful “Seguidilla.”
In this scene, Carmen cleverly convinces Don José to let her escape, telling him to meet her at a friend’s cafe where they can dance and drink all night.
Her spell—metaphorical, but possibly literal too—is cast, and Don José eagerly agrees. Little do they know, what follows will eventually send him into a fatal spiral.
Carmen is on stage now through May 17. Get tickets at the link in bio.
