Drawing on images and iconography from Western films, suburbia and the Christian tradition, this work seeks to reposition the viewer in relation to the mythology of American life. Ticket link is in bio, don’t wait! 🎟️ 🏘️ Jo Warren is a New York based artist working at the intersection of dance, performance, image-making, writing, Breathwork, tattooing, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In their time in New York, Jo has shared original work at AUNTS, Movement Research at Judson Church, the No Theme Festival, The Living Gallery, Exponential Festival and The Brick Theater. Their work in collaboration with Lena Engelstein has been described by the Brooklyn Rail as “subtly campy and hilariously queer.” Jo has performed with artists such as Lisa Fagan, Beth Gill, Sarah Michelson, Anna Sperber, and the LAVA acrobatic and dance company. Most recently, Jo is a performing collaborator with Vanessa Anspaugh and Faye Driscoll. 🏘️ About the work 🏘️ This is a dance for eight people that tells non-linear stories about suburbia, the life and death of Jesus Christ, extraterrestrial communication, telepathy, love and living at the end of the world. This work is a series of vignettes - duets, solos and group sections that take place inside imagined living rooms, on lawns and across a great expanse.
