Old news now but doing it for the grid - Harry House by Altereco and photographed by me got the honourable mention in the residential photography category at @indesignlive INDE 2024 awards!! We’re sitting on this quite impatiently until publication next year! @alterecodesign basically designed and built a house in order to get a full day dog shoot out of me, a bit crazy if you ask me but whatever blows your hair back! 🐶 @the_realprinceharry was so stoked he did an extra poo that day I’m told! + + + #indeawards #indeawards2024 #australiandesign #australianarchitecture #surfcoastvictoria #sustainablebuilding

I’m proud to be a founding member of the newest (and definitely best) photography association around @imagemakersassociation Starting tomorrow I’m doing an insta takeover of their account - please join me for some photos and thoughts peppered with bad jokes and an undertone of anxiety and imposter syndrome 😉 Photo: Lee Ufan Museum, Naoshima. Chasing some dopamine by blasting Robyn’s new album and looking through photos from Mexico last year. The architecture scene there has nailed adaptive reuse and use of local materials and artisans - this is the Museo Textil de Oaxaca by Arquitectos Artesanos. Excellent museum housed in an excellent building, Mexico is the country where I will go out of my way to see every niche museum because they’re always a surprise, and in Oaxaca the pride in their cultural identity is always at the forefront.

Flashback to the best few days at this incredible house in Mexico last year. I’d been dreaming of staying here since seeing it on every architecture and design website over the past 4 years. Designed by @ludwiggodefroy and situated in a small village on the edge of a forest outside Mexico City, it was a a perfect few days with friends listening to music, playing cards, and watching the fire from the conversation pit. Some good food and a little mezcal to top it off.

Have you ever found yourself staring in awe at the expansive confusion of Biblioteca Vasconcelos? Yep!

“Walking through the house, the moments that bring the greatest sense of joy are elemental. The sun creeping through the windows, the moon rising, nature unfolding outside-these are the things that make me happiest.” -Koos de Keijzer, DKO Founding Partner Designed with a generous window alcove, Pastoria’s main bedroom is aburst with natural light.  Softening the space throughout the day, it compels a moment of pause and reflection as you gaze upon the beauty of the natural landscape.  📍Dja Dja Wurrung & Taungurung Photography: @jjjjade Bedside Tables: @spacefurniture @gebruder_thonet_vienna Bedside Table Lamps: @blueprint_lighting Wardrobe: @molteniandc Leather to window seat: @pelleleathers Photograph above bed: @billhensonphoto

Visiting Biblioteca Vasconcelos was like seeing a Borges story come to life - infinite, and the physically impossible somehow realised. Magic Realism in library form! My camera and main lens were on their last legs (two international trips in 6 months and some decent drops, dust, water), but it made it through the library before dying as we walked through El Chopo punk market outside, on our last day in Mexico City. Designed by Alberto Kalach and Juan Palomar and opened in 2006, it temporarily closed for a hefty 2 years of defect rectification! Thanks to our generous guides @rodthisway and @gotoxyc Many more pics to come!

Cereus House by Circle Studio Architects @circlestudio_architects rises gently above a 1915 Edwardian cottage in Seddon, Australia 🌿. Two soft white curves bring light, height, and flow to the home, opening living spaces toward a north-facing garden while preserving the heritage streetscape. Inside, curved forms guide movement between kitchen, deck, and backyard, while scaled-up bullnose rafters shape a ribbed ceiling ✨. Work-from-home spaces are carefully zoned, with a quiet front office and an upper studio tucked into the treeline. Timber and metal cladding create a calm dialogue between old and new, allowing the extension to feel contemporary yet respectful 🌵. 🏗: Metacon Pty Ltd @metaconpty 📷: Jade Cantwell @jjjjade 🐕🐶: @ronnie.and.summer #CircleStudioArchitects #CereusHouse #Seddon #AustralianArchitecture #ResidentialDesign #architektura #DSA #DSA #DesignSkillAwards #ADCAwards #DesignAwards #设计奖 #建筑学 #DesignSkill #DesignCompetition #architecture #design #DesignSkillMagazine #DS #architecturalcontest #InternationalExcellenceAwards #adcCommunity #architettura #IEA #arquitectura #ADC

One of my worst AND best habits on long drives is adding in surprise side quests! Here’s the site of the great flood of 1852 in Gundagai, which wiped out the original town that was built on the flood plain. About a third of the towns population were killed, with many others saved by Wiradjuri men Yarri and Jacky who spent three days in a bark canoe and rowboat rescuing survivors clinging to trees.
