࿐ Fuglefotdelta ོ 𓂃𓂃 Fuglefotdelta is a long-term artistic engagement and collaboration of five artists — Magdaléna Manderlová (project leader), Jiska Huizing, Ferdinand Schwarz, Amalie Risom Nyrup and Sarah Sekles — at Nordre Øyeren naturreservat developed in close collaboration with Nordre Øyeren fuglestasjon and Besøksenter våtmark Nordre Øyeren. In 2026–27, we are meeting regularly on site to create participatory works exploring relational and site-specific practices centred on listening. The project culminates in a public symposium each year (hold the date: 03.10.2026) and an exhibition at Våtmarksenteret in 2027. The pictures are from our first fieldwork trip last weekend, when we stayed at fuglestasjon’s cabin at Årnestangen. Image credits: Jiska (1, 6, 9, 12), Ferdinand (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11), Sarah (13, 14 from NØF’s archives, 15, 16) The project has been supported by Akershus fylke, Nordisk kulturfond and Nordic Culture Point. @besokssenternordreoyeren @fetsundlenser @nordiskkulturfond @nordiskkulturkontakt @akershusfylke @risom.sekles @jiskahuizing @ferdischwarz

DEAR UKS MEMBER Winter is tricky and so are changes to funding at Fond for lyd og bilde (FLB). In short, they used to have some cash set aside for visual art (billedkunst) to be distributed by a separate jury (fagutvalg) of people with deep knowledge of the field, albeit not all of them were artists. Without consulting the field first, FLB has eradicated this jury, and have merged ten schemes into four. Why do we make a fuss when it is only a couple of million kroner? Well, this money has traditionally very precisely arrived to nourish the living, media critical and experimental practices of imaging artists. More often than the general project support from the Arts Council or Vederlagsfondet (our impression). UKS has initiated dialogue with the people behind this changes to the fund, and have lectured them on our concerns. The next level is to follow up when we see the numbers from the first rounds of applications, and we are particularly concerned with making visual artists aware that you can still apply support form the schemes! Artist working with sound? Apply to FLB “Musikk”. Artist working with moving image? Apply to their category “Film”. Artist working with installation and exhibition practices? Apply to FLB category “Scene” (!?). We strongly advise that you do, if you have a eligible project and can reach their new deadline February 20th, 13:00 o’clock. Our work with this is founded on our action plan 2025: to improve the working conditions of artists (a classic). Soon you’ll also receive the invitation to our annual assembly – we hope you’ll join and help shape the UKS’ action plan for 2026! Warm regards Ragnhild Aamås UKS Board Leader Want to become a member of @uks1921 Go to uks(dot)no for more information and the link to apply! 📸 1: @ragnaam , car (2026) — vinterstemning/winter vipers 12: @ragnaam , candy (2025) — eit statsbudsjettinspill er i veldig liten grad som ein plastskalle full av snop, men snacks er snacks/not really fitting image for state budget recommendation, nevertheless snacks

DEAR MEMBER Politics! The arcane knowledge of our times, rigged to seem too difficult to participate in. Come join us and make mayhem. I mean, meaningful changes to cultural policy. At @uks1921 , we have an invested group of people working on infrastructure, climate agency, and on lobbying, writing propositions and replies to both municipality and county, edited and unedited media outlets, as well as comments and feedback on government policy. Let alone curating our yearly open call, and putting out fires we didn’t necessarily start ourselves. The @uks1921 general assembly on March 14th is approaching and the nomination committee has begun their work. We welcome suggestions for board and nomination committee members, before the members vote on the positions at the general assembly. If you want to be part of the UKS board or have someone in mind, contact the nomination committee to plead the case by Tuesday, December 23rd. In 2026, four of the six ordinary board members and the chair of the board are up for election, as well as two members of the nomination committee. In addition, two deputy members of the board and one deputy member of the nomination committee are elected for one year at a time. Find more information about UKS union work and the UKS board on our website. Send your suggestions, with contact info and a short bio, directly to the nomination committee by December 23rd, 2025: nominasjonsutvalg(at)uks.no

thank you @bekelektronisk for hosting @uks1921 for our annual board seminar 🛠️💫 we gathered the day after the general election here in norway ❤️💚 for two days under @bekelektronisk roof in bergen, to discuss, reflect and inspire the political, environmental, social, and solidarity work ahead of us. the overarching questions in our argumentation and communication workshops was “how to talk to people you disagree with” and “how do you make the invisible work visible?” remember! if you are a member of any arts organisation, its important to show up to the annual meeting, prepared. come and listen, come and share. come and disagree. come and be heard. because this is where collective actions start to ripple and can create change. 🛠️ @uks1921 2025 ragnhild aamås @magnusholmen @jiskahuizing @titentusentimer prerna bishnoi @sosobrafield @_gabrieljohann @sarah_sekles andreas olavssønn rongen 📸 5—7 publication by georgia twigg, keep it complex, an occupational therapist that has been working with mental health for many years and keeps on inspiring me, years after i experienced a workshop with georgia and @aftonsam at @kunstsenter

Jiska Huizing The smell of orange tree blossoms and salt (2024) Installasjon: fotografi, video, lyd, risotrykket kunstnerbok og pamflett. ✺✺ WORKS FROM ‘THEIA’ ✺✺ UPCOMING: Jiska Huizing ‘Dawn listening session’ Time: Sunday 11 August, 08:00 - 09:00 Place: Hordaland Kunstsenter (ground floor) Practical: Free to attend, no registration required On occasion of the exhibition ‘Theia’ by Marie Nerland (@marienerland ), Jiska Huizing (@jiskahuizing ) invites you to a listening session at Hordaland Kunstsenter. Sound artist Jiska Huizing is part of the exhibition ‘Theia’ by Marie Nerland, with the sound piece ‘Tiden bretter seg’. On the last day of the exhibition, early in the morning, they invite you to join a listening session in the café at Hordaland Kunstsenter. While the day dawns we will direct our attention towards morning sounds in the building and the art centre’s surroundings, mixed with various sound recordings the artist has made of early mornings at different locations. Coffee, tea and oatmeal porridge will be served. JISKA HUIZING is a Dutch artist living and working in Oslo, Norway. Working with sound, photography, artist books, text and guided walks, they create work that contains a sense of searching and wandering, and that questions the ways in which we perceive our surroundings. Huizing holds an MA from the Bergen Academy of Arts and Design. Their work has been presented at amongst others Van Etten, Lydgalleriet, RUMMUR_radio, Vestlandsutstillingen 2019, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Academy Minerva and HIAP, Helsinki. 📷 1: Photo by Jikke van der Spek 2: Portrait of the artist by Paulina Tamara

Opening tomorrow: this lovely exhibition by Marie Nerland at @kunstsenter , which also includes performances by Icaro Zorbar, Mette Edvardsen, Marie Nerland together with Andrea Sørlie Barretta, a text written by Marie and read by Mariama Fatou Kalley Slåttøy, and a new sound work by me ✨ For the full program of the exhibition, please check: https://www.kunstsenter.no/#/program/1078 My work is build from 5 tracks, each around 6 min., that will be looped throughout the exhibition’s opening hours. The sounds are recordings from several dawns and dusks, which are split in the middle of the day by a recording of a cuckoo calling mid-day. In between these loops, another loop will reverberate through the gallery: the reading of a text by Marie, read by @mariamadama . I won’t be at the opening tomorrow unfortunately, but: I am looking forward very much to August, when I will come to Bergen during the last weekend of the exhibition. Then, I will do a morning session at HKS and you can experience two performances, by Icaro Zorbar and Mette Edvardsen!
