Weeks posts
Nearly all the yarn that has photography is back on the site along with all the woven yardage. We only have Lee & Windham left to go, they’ll be up next week. Worth noting - the last High Plains ever is in the shop & maybe at your LYS. I have a bunch of High Plains mini skein sets coming soon, they’re perfect for stripey sweaters or a jaunty little neckerchief. Sadly, this is the very last of this yarn so make sure to get enough to finish any planned projects. I am so ready for the weekend! Hope you have things that nourish you planned too. What are your fun jobs for the weekend?

Spring stuff with a completely gratuitous nearly grown kitten shot, but I think it’s important for everyone to see this.

Happy Mother’s Day. I know this is complicated for a lot of people but if you weren’t told you were both special & beautiful, my mom is available. She is by far the kindest person I have ever met & I think a lot of you know how amazing she is. I am awed by her capacity for caring. I’m inspired every day to be like her. Gentle & kind. Trying.

One of my favorite things about my garden is seeing all the plants shared from friends & family’s gardens. This thicket of Solomon’s Seal was a few plants from @yarnyoldkim a few years ago. They are looking especially painterly right now & are making me so happy.

Back home & exhausted but so happy. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, it’s amazing to be part of a community made up of people who have been practicing their craft for over 60 years & young folks just starting their journey -Vivian & Alice if you are reading this I was so thrilled to see you both! Making a thing the silo of the studio it’s easy to forget what a vibrant & beautiful group of people this has introduced me to. The work behind the scenes by the committee & the volunteers @mdsheepwoolfest to make such a great weekend is awe inspiring, thanks to all of you! From the best neighbors a gal could ask for in @clemesandclemes , my “twice a year” fellow vendor friends, the people that stopped by with projects started last year or newbies with questions I feel so privileged. To create a line I care about so much, exactly the way that makes me feel good about the process & then hand it off to you all to finish making a thing to warm yourself or your loved ones is just truly the coolest thing ever. I hope you had a weekend that filled your cup & I can’t wait to see you in Kingston in October.

It’s Salix day! I rarely design just on vibes, but that’s this shawl to the core. The most gorgeous yarn from @jillmakesstuff , a stitch pattern I’ve always wanted to use, and the most meditative and chill knit—bliss. Plus I got to use one of my favorite techniques in the lace, which I’ll share with you tomorrow! In the meantime, Salix is linked up in my profile and is on sale for 20% off through Monday May 3rd with the code “willowleaf”! (And yeah, I know willow leaves look nothing like the leaf motif in the shawl…but I maybe just planted a bunch of basket willows and I am EXCITED)

I always debate selling mini skeins as sets I pick or a bundle price for sets you make yourself. I’ve landed on doing both bc sometimes you want a new set of crayons to play with & sometimes you have a project in mind w specific cc needs. High Plains along with a couple other bases served both ways coming with me to @mdsheepwoolfest . That tiny slice of a shawl you can see is @bristolivy ’s Salix made with two skeins of High Plains but I think the pattern could be well suited to stripes if that strikes your fancy.

Down to the littlest bits for @mdsheepwoolfest , twisting up mini skeins of High Plains in tons of colors. I need to note the very last High Plains is dyed. So please make sure to get enough for whatever you have planned. I know people will be sad about the end of this yarn, me too but both the flock & the farmer that bred them to be so fine are no longer with us. The happy news is his son is raising gorgeous Cormos (among other things) and I bought this year’s whole clip so stay tuned, bc of the nature of wool processing, the whole shorn last month won’t turn up as yarn until sometime in 2027.

This is another new color of the handwoven, completely traceable wool yardage in the shop & coming to @mdsheepwoolfest . See my previous post (or the online shop) for the full details but if you want to leave the show with this fabric you will need to preorder bc we do not have room for a cutting table BUT the fabric is coming with so you can see, touch & place an order to be shipped after the show. I’m smitten with this fabric & hope you are too!

Okay fabric friends! The new colors of yardage of up on the site & ready for ordering (I have held some of the 4 new colors back so these 4 will definitely have stock at the show as well) pretty please read the note regarding ordering & if you leave a note saying you’re picking up at the show, please do, it makes an extra amount of post game admin if you don’t. I’ll close orders Wed late morning, I know this is short but I need to cut your fabric & drove to MD so that’s the way it has to be. I’m thrilled to share this with all of you. Thanks as ever to the best weaver & collaborator I know @heddle_over_heels , you make beautiful stuff.

I don’t always have Empire at @mdsheepwoolfest bc by May the stock is thin but a studio shuffle revealed a hidden box of undyed mega skeins so there are some but a limited quantity. Can’t wait to see you all & remember we’re one booth over from our old spot in the Main Exhibition Hall so our buddies @clemesandclemes have a touch more elbow room.
