Repost • @armarchitecture Something’s not adding up in the housing equation. The homes most needed are the hardest to build – not because of planning delays or labour shortages alone, but because they don’t stack up commercially. It’s a genuinely hard problem but surely not unsolvable. What will it take to fix it? For Melbourne Design Week, we’re bringing together the people managing housing pressure with those designing the response. It’s a public panel discussion to tease out real tensions. Our panellists are senior voices from government, research, community housing, and design – people with skill sets and diverse experience in managing, and living with the tensions, challenges and opportunities in addressing housing system stress. Event date and time: Wednesday 20 May, 5pm (for 5.30 start) – 7pm (ticketed, refreshment on arrival) Panellists: Marjorie Kennedy, Head of Homelessness & Housing Pathways, Homes Melbourne Michele Morrison, Chief Development Officer, Homes Victoria Rebecca Bentley, Director, NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Healthy Housing, University of Melbourne Contessa Von Barron, Senior Manager Affordable Homes & Retirement Living, VMCH Jesse Judd, Director, ARM Architecture Jack Panton, Managing Director, Affordable Housing Solutions (moderator) Get your ticket via the link in bio. Repost • @armarchitecture • After 27 years atop a city car park, national architecture, interiors and urban design firm ARM has moved its Melbourne cool to a swish and contemporary studio in a central city tower.   Amid the disco-infused joy of The Huxleys, the studio was launched last week by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria @vicgovernor , with a speech that would make us blush if we were bashful.   Launching the new studio is to celebrate four decades of contribution to Australia’s architectural, civic and cultural life. A creative, research-led approach has been foundational to ARM’s practice whose questioning spirit has produced a national body of work that is unmistakable, influential, and widely recognised. @armarchitecture | New Melbourne Studio | What a night! @willhuxley @garretthuxley spread disco-infused joy. The speech by @vicgovernor would make us blush if we were bashful. @armarchitecture want to personally thank those who made our launch party memorable. Our vision for the studio is a great place to work. To generate. To learn. To meet. And to share. We look forward to hosting you here many times in the future.
