(3/3) “Fazer acontecer” (make it happen) is tattooed on the arm of one of our team members at @walktalkazores . In many ways, that spirit has defined this project since its inception: to enable and prove that it is possible. Shifting into a biennial format was a major step and a long journey to figure out how to do it intentionally, relationally, and in tune with the island. It was a collective ambition that carried us forward: artists, curators, partners, team members, audiences, friends. There is of course many things to optimise, rethink, and refine. But for now, let’s acknowledge the beauty and generosity that became tangible throughout this edition, the proximities that formed, and the spaces it strives to create: of sharing, inclusion, and care. A hope spot — one we must protect and nurture ❤️💪 WALK&TALK TEAM 2025: Exec. & Artistic Dir. — Jesse James Program Coord. — @kincaxull Exec. (1/3) “The infrasonorous, in order to be, must leave a trace.” can be read in one of the stations of the Biennial, and it resonates deeply with Gestures of Abundance — evoking the invisible forces that connect us, the quiet movements, the traces we leave in each other, and the collective pulse that sustains what we’re building. It’s been a month since we opened @walktalkazores . A journey not only shaped by the long path that brought us here, but also by the time we now have to let things unfold. This time has allowed us to invite, to insist, to propose, to challenge. To stay attuned to the scale and rhythm of the island. A collective effort, woven through many forms of cooperation and leadership — from artists, partners, facilitators, and friends. I’m deeply grateful for what we’re creating together in São Miguel, and for the conversations we’re nurturing along the way. One more month to go 🌀 November 7–9: our Symposium — three days of lectures, talks, workshops, and performances. 📷 @pedromafaria [ENG] On 12 April, the Municipal Garden of Funchal hosted a reflective session led by Jesse James, framed within the conceptual approach of an assembly of abundance. This moment invited participants into active engagement with the notion of abundance, drawing from their personal perspectives and with particular attention to the geopolitical and cultural specificities of the Madeiran context. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who joined this proposition, and to Jesse for the generosity of offering us this moment.

Last November, @walktalkazores officially kicked off its 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘭 / 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘭 — opening our process, sharing questions, and grounding the themes, concepts, and practices that are shaping 𝗚𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. This “journey” is not a prelude, but a fundamental part of the biennial — an invitation to think and feel together through artist residencies, abundance assemblies, encounters, and shared exercises. It’s about embracing uncertainty, seeking common ground, and experimenting with ways of doing. We danced, swam, moved across the island, shared meals, and wrapped up with a powerful assembly led by @virgilio_varela — a moment to collectively dream and imagine what we want to build. We’ve been in this journey to the biennial since 2023 and it has been such an important exercise for us as a collective entity. This photo shares the first elements of this growing team. More than speaking about communality and care, we have been practicing and living it throughout our encounters, while enabling practices of autonomy that reinforce Walk&Talk as something plural and open. We are learning and schooling each other in the process, generating a collective intelligence informed by our different backgrounds and understandings. We’ve been so fortunate to conspire with @fbrsy @lilianacoutinho7 and @clairekshea and all the invited artists/participants and we’re excited to welcome all of you to these very needed Gestures of Abundance!
