JOHN CAMERON MITCHELL - LIVE IN LONDON!!! What a trip!!! Still on a high….a real life-affirming gig rocking the hell out of the Adelphi, playing songs from Hedwig, Bowie, Led Zeppelin to a packed out 1500-strong audience who were there with us every second. The talent I was lucky enough to share the stage with was off the charts. Killing band of @jerome_vdb and @charliecawood MDd superbly by @justinwcraig . True magic to be with the icon that is @johncameronmitchell (swipe to see the crowd surf - he also threw a zimmerframe into the pit, so punk) and the epic @shannonconleynyc on vocals. It’s our final day of Passing Strange @youngvictheatre It’s been so refreshing to play a show where the music is 100% live and instead of being hidden away the band and the music are really featured and celebrated. Playing this show has without a doubt been one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had in a theatre and from the reviews and the reactions it’s also clear that audiences have loved being able to see and appreciate live musicians in the theatre Huge thanks to the consistently brilliant musicians I’ve shared the stage with @pete.billington @jt_taylor_drums @ikeoniccc (and the mega deps @mrelliotmason @npbmusic @zachokonkwodrums ) and thank you @brandonmichaelnase for trusting me with the chair On top of that, the whole show is absolutely incredible in all regards. High Society - @millatsonning This show has been an absolute treat, a real highlight in my career so far. Fun, creative and an amazing process to be in. Working with @pitcherjoseph and @jayeelster to create something new and exciting has been such a delight. I couldn’t ask for better collaborators who are both so full of ideas and also create such a nice rehearsal vibe. Being able to create brand new arrangements, dance breaks and orchestrations from these amazing Cole Porter songs has been brilliant. I really wanted to showcase live musicians, and celebrate a small band rather than try and hide them in pre-recorded tracks and extensive programming. I think it works brilliantly, but it wouldn’t be possible without the incredible musicianship of @cal_jw @dannyjgrant and @tompet_tom who make a 4 piece sound like 14. And it all sounds amazing thanks to @chriswhybrowsound and @geordie_thor Also incredibly grateful to @thom_noise for taking charge as MD, while also saying yes to every moment he’s asked to go on stage and every number he’s had to memorise. On top of all that, you couldn’t get a more talented and nicer company. They bring such joy to the stage for every performance. If you can get to Sonning over the next couple of months do go see it, it’s such an energetic, fresh show, a real feel-good festive treat and I’m very proud of it.
