“Let’s take the day off to have brunch and see The Devil Wears Prada 2!”
It’s the best idea we’ve had all year!
Friends for over a decade and we decided that we needed a bit more time together to catch up instead of the usual dinner and show in town.
Glorious sunshine meant it was a day filled with champagne and rooftops, celebrating new adventures and business milestones - and the film was bloody brilliant!
We laughed, we cried, we high-fived in the street and we stumbled home 😂🥂
Can’t wait to do it all again @danaleeson@rachelallthingsic
Celebrating @rachelallthingsic ’s new book - Successful Change Communication now being out in the world!
I can’t wait to get stuck in and explore the insights and expert views from folks doing this work in organisations every day.
Congratulations Rach! Chuffed for you for book number 2!
You can grab a copy wherever you get your books!
This week @advitap has published her second book, Decoding Confidence.
I know how much work has gone into this book - behind the scenes there is a lived experience, research, thousands of people coached and supported and Advita’s impact rippling through the world.
I’m excited to read my copy and it was wonderful to celebrate at her London launch ahead of publication!
You can follow her work @decoding_confidence and make sure you check out her podcast and of course, grab the book wherever you get yours!
I’m chuffed I get to call her my best friend ❤️
The London Hen Party for @stephgbea included bottomless brunch, old school garage and RnB, dancing on tables, scavenger photo challenges, cocktails and photo booths!
Such a brilliant day celebrating such a brilliant friend ❤️🥂
April was full of friends, family and fun!
Business planning with @advitap and dinner in her hometown with @ktmarlow while we hosted a client workshop in Manchester.
Easter weekend with fizz, running with the girls, brunch with Dad and visiting Nanny.
Family fun - celebrating birthdays I missed while away, my niece turning 18, our godson also turning 18, and @joey_wright95 getting another year closer to 40 😂
And getting back to @crossfitcamberley after a year off - coffee club on Saturday mornings is always my favourite way to start the weekend!
Someone said to me last week, it’s great how much you actually live life….for me that’s what it’s all about. Nearly half way through 2026 and a lot more fun to come!
(At some point I’ll sort out my photos from Japan and get those up here too!)
Lovely evening celebrating the book launch of Exploring Internal Communication last night. Co-authored by Dr Kevin Ruck and Martin Flegg it’s a great handbook for those working in the profession.
I’ve long been a champion of professional development for internal communicators and reading this book reinforced why it’s so important for anyone, at any level, working in the profession.
It’s packed with data, insight, frameworks and actionable next steps for anyone responsible or accountable for internal communication in their organisation.
It’s a must read.
“The #Engagement101 celebrates the contributions of thought leaders from all areas of business, including the boardroom, HR, Internal Communications, Finance, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, who have made significant strides in the development of creating people first organizations.
From those who inspire action, educate, and recognize, to those who wield influence via social media or innovate fresh ways to engage people, all 101 influencers share a deep passion for enhancing the employee experience and as an output, engagement.”
What an honour to be included in this list in 2026! There are some incredible voices listed from around the world and it’s an honour to be alongside @adamgrant@amycedmondson@brucedaisley@chuckgose@advitap@rachelallthingsic and so many others!
Inspired by @advitap , a year ago today I started couch to 5k in my attempt to learn to run - with a goal to run one mile without stopping.
And I’m so glad I did. In March this year I injured my shoulder which meant that my usual CrossFit workouts had to pause - and I’m still not back there (but I am on the mend).
Exercise has always been a big part of my life, from martial arts to dancing to weight training to now, running.
Despite the shoulder injury, two bouts of tonsillitis and a twisted ankle this year I have continued to run when I can. I attempted my first park run in 11 years in Toronto with @nitrambackwards … I’ve run in Wales, Nashville, Santorini, Cambridge, London and Manchester and I’ve had some brilliant people in my corner running with me, encouraging me and supporting this journey.
Today I’m buying a new pair of trainers because in total this year I’ve run over 200 miles - and I’m already excited about going for a run with friends on Friday morning!
2026 should see the return of some strength training alongside running and I’m excited about getting stuck into a new routine next week but today I’m celebrating my 2025 efforts - I can now run a mile (or even 6!) without stopping.
Some highlights of 2025…
- hanging out with other entrepreneurs throughout the year always leaves me feeling full of joy
- speaking and signing books to help people build their credibility as a leader
- hosting an awards event and hanging out with some fantastic industry folks
- hosting Comms Reboot in Toronto with some brilliant comms folks based on that side of the pond
- celebrating 10 years of marriage at Niagara Falls
- celebrating my birthday with family and friends
- getting back into Park Run
- learning the family lasagne recipe
- recording the audiobook of Nobody Believes You (out now on Spotify and Audible!)
- a trip to Santorini with best friends to celebrate a wonderful couple getting married!
- continuing to find the joy in running 🤣
- speaking on stage in Nashville with my best friend helping comms folks build confidence and credibility
- launching the Frequency podcast and doing a live episode on stage
- two shortlist nominations for leadership book of the year for Nobody Believes You
I’ve been looking back on 2025 today to work out plans for 2026 and there are a lot more highs than lows!
