I can't believe it's already been 5 years since my little ceramic friend and I found each other in Bogota 🦇🌪🎶 He's the inspiration, container, beating heart of the texts I've worked on and my first experience with sharing music created with sampling and composition in Ableton. ⚠️ Flashing 🌿 Ciclos Hybrid AV, our new show, is finally open for bookings 👇🏼🔮 Working with four CDJs not as playback devices but as expressive instruments, Zohar builds a layered sonic landscape where unreleased material, archival fragments, and remixed media are blended, torn apart, and reshaped into something uniquely new — some of which exists only in this context: fleeting, unrepeatable, and likely to never be released. The sounds she’s building with Ciclos present an experimental and intuitive performance rich in depth, emotion, intensity, and sonic texture; live sampling and visual composition challenge and amplify one another to build a new audiovisual world. As a way of meditating on his dreams, Jeisson combines numerous ways of creative production to nurture new relationships to the cultural heritage he became displaced from as a child. An imagined return, recurring questions of repatriation, repair, ‘discovery’; Ciclos presents a new living visual expression of his processes of fracturing the Western lens in museology, specifically colonial collections. As he learns about contemporary cases of claims and returns he builds his own ways of relating to the stories he finds increasingly physically and emotionally. Working with characteristics in sound, concept and visuals that get daunting, heavy, colliding and fleeting, Ciclos is a new space that allows Zohar and Jeisson to take their next steps in having their artistic expression guide them through a unique process of wayfinding -collectively- to find moments of light in darkness. Unreal Amazonia Mixed-media Installation will be on show this Saturday evening and night for @uncloud.nl Festival day 2 at @was.utrecht 🙏🏼💌 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮, 𝗝𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 Mixed media installation Unreal Amazonia weaves together stories about repatriation (one's return to the land of origin) and restitution (the restoration of something lost or stolen to its proper owner). Through writing, 3D film-making, research, sculpture and video-work Jeisson gives expression to the love that brings together feelings of belonging, hope, mourning and imagination. “The Netherlands and Belgium signed; From now on it was investigated whether (...) had been stolen or smuggled. The recent loss of his (adoptive) mother; a recurring dream of reuniting with his biological family; an imagined return to a land that could never feel quite like home; learning about the culture of his ancestors through the lens of European museums; research into the historical development of policies around displaced cultural objects and even human remains. ㅡ These are some of the realities and timelines that coexist in the bodies of many people that were displaced by intercountry and intercontinental adoption. The forest became a place for Jeisson to dream and write towards. I don't know much about the afterlife but I like that we can (____) there, the new installation by cross-disciplinary artist Jeisson Drenth opens today as a part of Theater Rotterdam's free exhibition programme TRaces. The installation consisting of the artist's first large sculpture and original Dutch poetry presents Jeisson's most recent creative expressions as a part of his unfolding research into heteronormative bias in pre-Columbian art history; specifically the ambiguity and mystery surrounding a ceramic stirrup-spout bottle created within Chimú culture (900 CE to 1470 CE, Northern coast of Peru). You're hereby warmly invited to come in and find out more. The exhibition takes place in the bay window (de erker) from May 7th to May 18th. It is accessible before and after performances in the main hall of TR25 Schouwburg. Excited to share that my unfolding artistic research into heteronormative bias in pre-Columbian art history just received support from Cultuurfonds DeFKA Departement voor Filosofie en Kunst Assen. I'm currently preparing for the concluding phase of this project's r&d by doing field research and creating a more elaborate archive of studies in prints as well as ceramics in Lima Peru in July! It's been really exciting to take my research into policies around adoption, policies around restitution of objects held in colonial collections into a new space of physical creation by getting started on my own replicas. 😎❤️ Thank you! @Cultuurfonds

Three years now⁉️ since my first adventures with changing from video work and talks about my work to creating a first series of objects. I wanted to move away from production and audience experience through screens.. and to relate to my creative expressions physically through touch 👇🏽 This week 🧠🏋🏽‍♂️ I'm wrapping up a 2 year development plan. Working on applications is always stressful 👽 but it's also a nice exercise in reviewing and celebrating the artistic process 🤞🏽🤞🏽💚
