As every designer knows, you're only as good as the people you get to work with. From a recent story in @archdigest for a great and dear client seen here in the entrance of her townhouse in the West Village. Working with the architect @boleearchitects and @lennieconstruction we completely updated this 16,500 square foot residence and expansive gardens. We also embarked on a wonderful design journey that's culminated in the creation of the Spector Craft Prize and whose Advisory Board I proudly serve on. @spectorcraftprize@dadagoldberg@glenn_adamson It doesn't get better than that. One of the highlights of my career has been the opportunity to collaborate with one of my heroes @edwinavongal Here we are on our second project together (the first in Martha's Vineyard will leap this spring) in Palm Beach on an extraordinary property. I don't do much but watch and learn and add sculptures and other objects to enhance, in my small way, her transcendent gardens.

Tropical But Not Typical. For this Vero Beach, Florida residence we avoided the usual coastal tropes, such as blue and white schemes, palm tree references and the like, while at the same time referencing it's location in Florida. My friend Peter Bielecky of 4th generation company -- the revered @bielecky_brothers (I'm merely the third generation in mine) -- and I devised the custom wicker chairs expressly for this project and were proudly made entirely by hand in Flushing, New York 👏👏👏

Singin' The Blues in Tribeca, where we paired a #pierrepaulin Ribbon chair and ottoman, vintage mid-century Italian sconces by Scolari, and a painting by one of my favorite artists, Jacqueline Humphries. Hand-embroidered curtains by @hollandandsherryinteriors are intended to evoke bubbles rising in a glass of champagne, for a couture moment. Curated, but always comfortable.

A view of a serene dining room on Park Ave. An important Andre Arbus rug from @keshishiancarpets started the ball rolling. My friends @chapterandverse_nyc crafted a bronze and walnut dining table of impeccable quality. A @samorlandomiller work from @gallery_fumi is over a bronze cabinet from my favorite @osannavisconti from @nilufargallery . A pair of custom benches from @dunefurniture flank the fireplace. The ethereal walls are a custom plaster from my constant collaborator @yolandebatteau of @callidusguild .A unique light sculpture by @stephencantonson from @lizobriengallery makes it all light up.
