A curved archway in our Upper East Side apartment combination creates intentional sightlines and softens the transition between work and living spaces, with discrete pocket doors to allow for privacy. Inspired by the serenity of Japanese bathhouses and Therme Vals in Switzerland, a deep soaking tub cradled in stone and illuminated by natural light from a circular skylight above. A few moments from our recent photoshoot with @skylersmith and @pammorris Afternoon golden light pours into this river facing loft transforming the space. We even snuck in a quick portrait session in our favorite chair. #boleearchitects #apartmentrenovation #brooklynapartment #interiordesign #brooklyninteriordesign

Recreated from the townhouse’s original designs, these shutters were made in collaboration with @pede.build and finished with extraordinary care. We love how they filter light through the room, shifting throughout the day - a favorite corner in this beautiful Fort Greene townhouse. ☀️ Photo: @skylerrsmith Woodwork: @pede.build Ceramics: @j____h_ceramics #brooklyntownhouse #brooklyntownhouserenovation #brooklynarchitecture #brooklyninteriordesign #boleearchitects #bolee

This project was all about light. A full townhouse renovation with a rear yard extension gave this family of four more space—an in-law suite with garden access below and a parlor-level kitchen and living room above. Because they love to cook and gather, we opened the kitchen to the sky with a full-width skylight, then added another above the stairs and even one in the shower. The result: a bright, open home we loved creating with these wonderful clients—and a joy to finally see captured on a sunny day. A sneak peek from our recent photo shoot of a Fort Greene triplex project. This is a home for a family who loves to cook—food is central to their work and life. Creating a generous, open space for cooking, gathering, and sharing meals was essential. The new backyard extension gave us an opportunity to add a full width skylight and large windows to bring in natural light in. A great day on set with a team who knows how to have fun. #boleearchitects #bolee #nycarchitecture #nycinteriordesign #nycinteriors #architecture #interiordesign #brooklyninteriordesign #brooklyninteriors #brooklynbrownstone #brooklyntownhouse #brooklynarchitect #nycarchitect  📸 @skylerrsmith

It was an honor to be part of the Korean Architects Association of NY’s “KAANY Architecture Forum: From Designer to Leader” last week. Fellow Korean architects and designers shared inspiring reflections on the many phases of their professional journeys with a room full of emerging designers. We are always learning from the ideas, values, and energy of both current and next generations and are continually energized by the exchange. Grateful to be part of such an open, generous design community that is central to our work.  Thank you for the invitation, @kaany.nyc And thank you for your inspiring words, @riverarchitects @supermassstudio @kate.lighting @archfeel . It was a privilege to share the stage with you.

For this Fort Greene rooftop bathroom, we drew inspiration from serene Eastern bathhouses and Switzerland’s Therme Vals. Being on the top floor gave us the chance to add a skylight and bring natural light into this interior space. Photo: @skylerrsmith
