“As we consoled each other amidst the post-TSP blues, we arrived at the conclusion that this experience is not to be understood–it is to be felt. Without knowing it, we’ve been whispering “Gentle Lives Tell No Stories” all along the 600-mile SF Outpost stretch.
I used to write. Mostly thoughtless evictions of words waiting for context to steep. It was Zen. It was jazz. There’s some words I scribbled in 2018 which took 8 years to find its meaning:
i am the burning bridge
searing in radiance
like the bright of warmth
moths orbit toward
in dancing delirium
dazed by the flight of hopeful promises
i am run on sentences
cut short by pensive marauders
looting elusive truths
with menacing momentum
i am the fleeting moment that can
only be chased but never caught
like the face of naught living isolated in
California Camelots
only that was all
until i wasn’t.”

Why document? This whole project and experience is a love letter to the historically disenfranchised, the marginalized, and the othered. People may downplay content in whatever form it comes in as shallow, or assume it’s produced for ulterior motives, but I can’t stress enough how simple the mission is. It’s to simply foster visibility, which is one of the key ingredients for our individual and shared identities. Visibility is paramount for us to dream, for us to believe, for us to imagine ourselves in positions we aspire toward. It is essential that our own motifs, iconographies, and heroes are vivified. The spectacle is not in vain. This is why I document—for our hometown heroes.
TSP LALV SF OUTPOST was special because we got to send it from the soil… From Oakland to Sac-town, the Bay Area and back down… 🌁🏴☠️
600 miles from San Francisco to Las Vegas… The journey was perfectly flawed. ❤️🔥
Special thanks to @alex_derb and @skechers_running for supporting us along the journey this year—we could not have done it without you. 👟🚐
The only way to finish something difficult is to first dare to start. 600 miles from San Francisco to Las Vegas, 2 teams, and 1 dream later…

REFLECTIONS FROM KEENE CAFE AT MILE 324/600
I had the privilege and honor to be captain of Miles Over Barriers for @thespeedproject ’s SF OUTPOST this year and I chose not to run. It was important for me to make room for others because I believe everyone deserves a spot on this stage so I initiated a project with two goals:
• MOB Pursuit running for speed
• MOB Originals running for completion
It has been such an inspirational experience to support, witness, and photograph my heroes, whom I also get to call friends, do something simultaneously outrageous and courageous—runners, crew, and storytellers.
Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without all the other selfless leaders involved in this massive undertaking: @4forever_forward_motivation@conolulu@mylinhion@mariosaurus@leonitus@sherylannpadre@bezyonce@_agmendoza@rborsdorf and many others behind the scenes. Yall know who you are…
I don’t have the capacity to post to my stories regularly because of the many hats I’m wearing but give our team IG a follow to stay updated: @milesoverbarriers .

I could not have asked for a better first and last experience of the Sundance Film Festival at Park City…
We went during the tail end of the program and missed the crowd and commotion but it was more intimate that way.
Top screenings for me:
• If I Go Will They Miss Me
• BAIT
• Marga en el DF
• Undertone
• Freelance
• Crisis Actor
