Es ist eine Reise ins Innere – nicht nur geografisch, sondern auch musikalisch und seelisch. „Inside the Island“, das neue Album von Quadro Nuevo, erscheint am 24. Oktober 2025 bei GLM Music und ist mehr als eine Sammlung von Stücken: Es ist ein klingender Reisebericht, geboren auf der griechischen Insel Samos. Dort, wo Wellen, Licht und Sonne die Landschaft formen, wo alte Dörfer in den Hügeln schlummern und ein Kafenion der Treffpunkt für Einheimische bleibt, haben sich vier Musiker zurückgezogen, um Musik zu schreiben, die nach Zitronen, wildem Rosmarin und der heiteren Melancholie des Südens duftet.
Quadro Nuevo, das sind auf diesem Album Mulo Francel (Tenorsaxofon, Klarinette, Mandoline, Whistle), Andreas Hinterseher (Akkordeon, Bandoneon, Vibrandoneon), Didi Lowka (Kontrabass) und als jüngstes Ensemblemitglied der Gitarrist Philipp Schiepek. Gemeinsam begeben sie sich auf die Suche nach dem „Simple Life“, einer entschleunigten, kontemplativen Lebensweise, die den Blick für das Wesentliche schärft.
Fernab der Touristenströme und der großen Weltpolitik entsteht Musik, die wärmend, archaisch und zeitlos wirkt – geboren aus der Weite und Gelassenheit der Ägäis.

Today is the release of my second album, „All The Others“.
I am honestly proud of this work, into which I have poured a lot of time and energy over the past year. Since my debut album, I tried to grow both musically and personally, exploring many new musical styles—most notably the Classical Impressionism, as you will hear.
At the beginning of last year, I practically locked myself in my parents’ house on the countryside for weeks, studying music that was new to me and composing these pieces. Each one is dedicated to a specific fictional character from movies, series, or books that have deeply inspired and influenced me. This album is therefore extremely personal and showcases a broad insight into my current work. It means a lot to me if you take the time to listen to it from start to finish and let the music sink in.
A huge thank you, of course, to everyone involved: Ella Zirina, Niklas Roever (who btw composed the piece „Kauai‘o‘o“) Jakob Obleser and Leo Asal, Friedrich Paravicini, Zuza Jasinska, and Fe Fritschi—for bringing this music to life with their artistry.
Klaus Genuit (recording/mixing) and Marko Schneider (mastering) for the high-quality and beautiful sound, Jazzline and Joachim Becker for releasing the album and believing in me again,

TRAUMSEQUENZ is OUT TODAY! In February 2023 we travelled to Iceland to play two concerts followed by the recording session for “BLÍÐUR”. Today sees the release of the album with guitarist Hilmar Jensson as featured guest artist. Recorded in the famous studio of the band “Sígur Rós” in Mosfellsbær, a completely new, exciting sound cosmos has been created here. 13 works composed especially for this occasion reflect the unique atmosphere of the Icelandic winter and thus take an intimate look at the perfectly interwoven and virtuoso playing of the protagonists. Today is release day!
For the follow-up of his ECM-leader-debut La traversée, French saxophonist Matthieu Bordenave expands his trio of German pianist Florian Weber and Swiss bassist Patrice Moret with the unique sensibilities of drummer James Maddren, whose unrelenting pulse adds deft counterpoint to the group’s already idiosyncratic sound. Besides the soulfully angular rendering of John Coltrane’s “Compassion”, the quartet tackles eight Bordenave-originals that bridge the gap between chamber-jazz dynamics and post-swing designs. Weber and Bordenave’s oblique approach to their instruments – Bordenave can be heard on both tenor and soprano sax – coalesce seamlessly, spinning unanticipated lines over a highly interactive rhythm section. The Blue Land was recorded in Pernes-Les-Fontaines in 2022, and produced by Manfred Eicher.
