'Sirens' are everywhere right now, in the many fields of the human reign, sounding at its highest level ever... ⁠ ⁠ Pioneering Swiss DJ and electronic music producer @ripperton joins forces with Berlin-based singer, composer and passionate aural storyteller Joy Frempong (@oymusic ) to create a beautiful and deeply moving piece of electronic music. And after three years in the making, “Sirens” finally emerges.⁠ ⁠ The roots of this collaboration however reach back more than a decade. Around 2010, Ripperton first encountered Joy’s first album with Oy after hearing it on Swiss national radio Couleur 3. Shortly after, he saw her playing live — a moment he describes as pure magic. So inspired, Ripperton approached her label with a request to remix her music. The label agreed, and in exchange, Joy promised to feature on one of his future productions. What began as a mutual artistic gesture quietly planted a seed and eventually, pretty much fifteen years later, that seed has fully grown. ⁠ ⁠ 'Sirens' began as one of Ripperton’s nocturnal modular jams — exploring and playing around with pulsating sequences, pure analogue sound textures and fluid, hypnotic structures. The track was then elevated to an entirely new level by Joy Frempong’s deep, evocative lyrics and her celestial voice, transforming the song into something haunting and profoundly human. The song also grew on a shared work ethos rooted in patience, trust and refinement. A slow process, shaped by intuition and feeling rather than pressure. Listening over noise. The result is an emotionally charged composition that blurs the line between inner reflection and collective awareness — a sonic response to the sirens of our time. What does it mean to release a song in 2026? I’m not really sure. For a while, I stepped away from all this DJ/electronic music business and social media stuff — it just didn’t feel right anymore. I also had to recover from some of the things life throws at you, find a new path and take care of my mental health. Joy and I had been meaning to make this song for a long time… and in the end, time helps heal almost everything. Along the way, I also met Arthur, who supported me through a strange period in my life. He was generous enough to share a bit of his immense talent on this track. And of course Sacha — my best friend for so many years — dropped by the studio one evening, listened to the song, and laid down this stunning guitar part in a single take. Magic, family, friendship and alchemy — maybe that’s what it means to release a song in 2026: something played and sung by human beings for human beings.

Heute ist für mich ein besonderer Tag, denn die brandneue Remix EP meines guten Freund Charles Petersohn wird offiziell veröffentlicht. Letztes Jahr um diese Zeit veröffentlichte er eine wunderschöne EP mit dem Titel Children Of Zu Zu auf dem renommierten Label Compost Records aus München. Nun, fast genau ein Jahr danach erscheint eine Remix EP mit großartigen Bearbeitungen der Originaltracks. Für das Cover entschieden Charles und ich das ursprüngliche Coverfotomotiv ebenfalls einem Remix zu unterziehen. Und das meinten wir so: eine analoge physische Bearbeitung des Fotos. Mit den Händen. Ganz ohne Photoshop oder KI! Sehr spannend. Um dem Ganzen etwas schmutzige Punk-Attitude zu verleihen, erstellten wir Ausdrucke in SW und zerknitterten und zerrissen sie, zogen sie über den Asphalt und klebten sie wieder zusammen. Natürlich mit einem magenta farbigen Gaffertape. Ein Link zum ursprünglichen Fotomotiv. Was sonst. Ein ganz neuer Prozess für mich, also sozusagen einen Remix meines Fotos auf diese Art zu erarbeiten. Das hat wirklich viel Spaß gemacht. Im Anschluss fotografierten wir diese Artworks draussen auf der Straße, an Fenstern, an Wänden und auf dem Boden. Eine Auswahl davon könnt ihr hier in der Galerie sehen. Eines dieser Ergebnisse gefiel uns so gut, das wir es nun für den Remix Cover nutzen. Die offizielle Veröffentlichung der Remix EP in digitaler und physischer Form ist heute am 08. Mai 2026.
