Rogues In Action- Casting Director Session! Awesome Actor, Casting Director and Filmmaker Jayson Therrien conducted some old-style in-person audition sessions for us this past week. Sessions were followed by an extremely informative Q & A. Jayson shared his vast knowledge and extensive experience with our Rogue actors, giving them a great opportunity to show him their work and benefit from his direction.
Big thanks to Jayson for sharing his passion and expertise and much thanks to all of our Rogue Actors who stepped up and delivered. Next week Rhonda Fisekci visits!

Getting to attend the only Canadian theatre screening of “Night of the Reaper” was a night to remember. I was so grateful Marlow, a fellow horror buff could enjoy it with me and we saw our good friends Tyler Saxby and Director & Casting Director Jayson Therrien! His energy is always so positive and infectious, I was in wonderful company.

Having just come off its opening night world premiere at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, we’re looking forward to a hometown screening of Calgary director Brandon Christensen’s (Z, CIFF 2019; THE PUPPETMAN, CIFF 2023) latest horror film, NIGHT OF THE REAPER, a fun throwback to classic slasher films.
In the wake of the brutal murder of a teenage babysitter, college student Deena (Jessica Clement, NIGHT BLOOMS, CIFF 2021) returns home for the weekend and is roped into a babysitting gig of her own. When the local sheriff is mailed a piece of evidence that proves the murder may not have been an isolated incident, he is led on a scavenger hunt to reveal the killer may be planning a sequel.

I have to admit, I’m growing a new love for the slasher films. This perspective with the themes of the 1980’s but with modern unexpected twists had me happily on the edge of my seat. Creepy, nerve-wracking and unpredictable - a great film.
I was also super excited to see CUFFcade!!

Each April, the Calgary Underground Film Festival launches five new indie video games that are free to play, and they remain accessible at Globe Cinema throughout the year. These arcade cabinets feature five new, independent video games. CUFFcade is the only curated arcade of its type in Canada. CUFFcade will remain at Globe Cinema throughout the year, and will be free to play.
