I just had my retouching mind blown by nano banana in photoshop. I wanted to clean up this photo, removing everything but the piano so I can get an idea of what a location would look like. I selected all of the image, and for the generative fill I prompted only “REMOVE ALL BUT THE PIANO”. It took about 20 seconds to clean this room up. If it was even possible, this would have taken me about an hour. I think the era of holistic, prompt driven retouching has arrived.

Drone firefighters!! I traveled to beautiful La Plata, MD to shoot a story for @ieeespectrum magazine about the XPrize for firefighting drones. Thirteen teams are competing in the semifinals for the autonomous wildfire-suppression competition. In the final round, to be held in June 2026, five of those teams will have to find a fire within 1,000 square kilometers of what XPrize calls “environmentally challenging” terrain and then navigate to and extinguish it, all within 10 minutes. The winner will collect a $3.5 million purse.
This will mark the first time I used a drone to take pictures of drones. Yo dawg.

SMASHED!! Long story very long, In France the sweet white wine Sauternes come from grapes that are infected with the fungus Botrytis cinerea, aka the Noble Rot. There is restaurant in London called...Noble Rot. We recently had a top ten experience at the cozy Noble Rot at Lambs Conduit location. If you’re a lunch heathen such as myself, you know you enjoy a long languid liquid laden lunch. We spent a respectable 3+ hours here and NOTHING disappointed. If you have the opportunity, stop in. They were so friendly, they let me steal some bottles for my smashed project. (What are you doing with them?) These wines were so exceptional I had to stuff them in my luggage and pack them back. I haven’t figured out how to smash on location yet, I make it more complicated than it looks (note the blood streak).

Had a great time shooting the Team at National Institute of Standards and Technology studying how to measure....nothing! Stephen Eckel and his team of METRICIANS (love that word) have built a portable vacuum gauge that uses individual atoms, cooled to just shy of absolute zero, to serve as targets for stray particles to hit. One of the challenges for this was how to actually photograph a tiny blob of about a million Lithium atoms! Figured it out and had a great time shooting with the team.

A behind the scenes soup to nuts of a shoot I did Last season with Jason Wu. Jason asked me to shoot lay down shots of some of his classic dresses for a special project. The shots were used in turn to make another set of classic dresses. It’s dresses all the way day. Then I made one of those shots into a spinning dress AI movie using Higgsfield ai. Enjoy!

I’ve taken a few delightful summer months off from social media and it has been fantastic! Now back to it. Starting with....my Mongolia trip! Finally getting around to posting video and still from that crazy trip. I have never posted anything I didn’t shoot to my grams, until now! Two super talented riders and shooters, @sfizio_oi and @aleksrits shot most all of this. I have some grainy fuzzy stills from my point and shoot film camera at the end. The outfitter I went with, @wilderness , made an 11 minute video I’ve cut down here to 3 so it can fit on Instagram.
Mongolia is an amazing dirty fun rough young stand alone amazing city. Reminds me of Philly. Me and my 8 buds rode for 8 days. Lost two riders to serious femur injuries. Almost ran out of gas. Never ran out of food or vastness. Saw shepherds herding their goats with Toyota Prius’s. I now want a Prius as a pick up truck. Amazing time, amazing scenery, amazing crew.
