I spent 6 days driving up and down Route 66 in the Texas panhandle with our crew last week and brought back a bunch of mementos. These are my favorite from the @sadmonkeymercantile@devilsropemuseum@milburnpriceculturemuseum@udropinncafe@thebigtexan@texasivyantiques .
Our first two episodes this fall will be devoted to Texas’ stretch of Route 66, and all summer we will be road trippin’ to celebrate! Hop in and travel with us!
I can never get enough small-town restaurants. The quality of the food and people who work in them is unmatched. I’m reminded every time I’m on the road filming for the show.
What’s your favorite Mom and Pop small town restaurant?
Folks have been asking for an update on the Mosquito problem/solution in my yard. Here’s the final breakdown on the Mosquitaire Trap plus the update on how well the CO2 booster works.
I have no affiliation with @biogents_usa and am not compensated in any way for this. I just really hate mosquitos and killing bees and other pollinators.
tl;dr - the basic trap does well, having a couple definitely helps, and adding at least one CO2 booster makes a huge difference.
Test out different locations around your yard. Bushes and shady areas are best. Also don’t put them where you want to hang out otherwise the mosquitos will find you more easily.
And you don’t have to empty the traps every day. The mosquitos die from dehydration after about 24 hours. When you’re ready to empty a bag, just leave it in the sun for a couple hours it all of them will die.
Each smell pack lasts about 2-3 months according to them. A CO2 tank with no times release lasts about 3-4 weeks. With the timer you can supposedly get about 6 weeks per tank.

It’s hard to take a bad photo in Palo Duro Canyon. That’s where one of our subjects of our storytelling this week shoots all of her portraits.
It’s the second largest canyon in the United States and it’s in the part of Texas most people consider to be the flattest.
If you’ve never been to Palo Duro before, you’ll want to tune in later this fall to take a ride through it with us.
There aren’t many folks who can do all that @prissc does, but she does it with the comforting sensibility that makes even strangers feel at home when she’s around.
We’re blessed to call her Mom 365 days a year.
Route 66 is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year. It’s played a special role in the history of our great nation and the stretch in the Texas panhandle is a big part of it.
We just wrapped up 6 days of filming all up and down the Mother Road and met countless people from all over the world who are taking their own trips.
This September when we are back from summer break, we’ll kick off our trip with all of you, but in the mean time we’ll be sharing some of what we saw this summer along with other stories here and on YouTube. Of course we’ll also be airing our stories from season 54 in our normal time slots.
Hop in and travel with us!
Your eyes do not deceive you. This is not Ai. This is the sort of backdrop you find for the new @texascountryreporter truck when you drive the back roads of Texas.
I’ve had 4 Chevy Silverados in my adult life. I’ve enjoyed each one more than the last. Having Chevy hop in and travel with us as a vehicle sponsor is a dream come true.
Route 66 was the perfect backdrop for unveiling our new Silverado, and it’ll be an amazing place to kick off our 55th season later this fall.
We ride at dawn…
We are headed into Season 55 of TCR this fall, and we’ve got a big update to how we’ll get there thanks to Chevy.
If you see us out on the road, be sure to take a picture and tag us! We’ll be hard to miss! #chevydrivestexas
This week’s trip has been one for the books. I’m in awe of how small of a community the 3-ish hour drive across Texas’ Route 66 stretch is. Everyone knows one another and is so full of energy.
We filmed 8 stories in 4 days, and met soo many fine folks from around the world. We’re turning this trip into our first two episodes of Season 55. It’ll be unlike anything TCR has ever done before.
I’ll be glad to go home tomorrow after a lot of new miles on our new TCR Flag, but so sad to leave this little sliver of drivin’ heaven.
Spent the evening on the back of a horse named Apache. We rode with a group of tourists who are traveling Route 66 and wanted the Texas experience. One woman was from Germany and I met some newlyweds from London who are spending two weeks driving the entire length.
We rode through Palo Duro Canyon and it was a great evening to do it. Story incoming soon!
