Coloring @sonia.shortfilmCinematography by @matthewcanada --- Color by The grade for SONIA was something I locked in before we ever rolled on anything. It started out as edits I would see of Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN that were this super gritty, high grain, high contrast B&W that I'd never seen before. The moment I saw those images I knew that was what I wanted for Sonia. As a colorist its been a vacation of sorts. On most things we strive to make adjustments whilst preserving as much detail and information as possible. But with this film, detail and objective clarity were the exact opposite of the goal. Muddy the image, enough to make it striking, but not so much to where it becomes too annoying.
