To Re-topo, or No-topo 🏡 (#3dgs Gaussian Splats) Part 11 Wait, did I just upload the same video as last week? Not quite. You need to look a little closer. It looks like last week’s post, but the engine under the hood has been entirely swapped out. Welcome to the era of 3D #Gaussian Splatting. I used @jawset.visual.computing postshot to splat the entire Stuttgart 1946 environment + the present scan (thx to @hlrs_hpc for the file). Similar like I tested this workflow earlier this year on a small microscope asset, but doing it for a massive city block was a challenge. But it paid off! Right on cue, @chaos.vray released V-Ray 7 Update 3, loaded with new 3DGS options. Testing my new splat inside it was a no-brainer. The results? You can see right here.� Just a few perks of this workflow: * Rendertime = almost zero: Because it’s not traditional geometry anymore. * The PLY File: The whole scene is baked into a single 1GB .PLY file, leaving the actual .max file at a ridiculous 1MB. * Camera FX: It fully supports Motion Blur (and likely DOF), relighting, reflecting and shadow casting in the latest vray update. Sure, feeding it 200 to 300 8K renders took a minute to process, but it was worth every second of compute time. This is more than just optimization. I think this is the final puzzle piece to bringing this entire, photorealistic scene into a web browser without a single visual downgrade.�… to be continued 🥸 🛠️ #artgineering #olika3d gaussiansplat

3D Gaussian Splatting Insects enclosed in the crystal glass. 3D Insects were based on the Photogrammetry works by Mr.Kenji Kohiyama, who made the basic data for the past 20 years, now reviving in its full potential with Gaussian Splatting method. Data constructed on Jawset Postshot to generate the Gaussian Splats from Kenji Kohiyama's data exported from Metashape. 3DGS files imported to Voxel Kei's "Spatialograph Maker" in beta v 0.6.0. Enclosed Insects reveals another dimension of the way we view these insects. The actual visual installation using these 3DGS insects are now showing at the TOP MUSEUM, in Ebisu, Tokyo until May 27th. We made 40 3DGS Insects for this Exhibition.

Under the hood of every gaussian splat lives a point cloud - what this mean is we can do some really cool things! With points and particles being so relative - you can actually treat them as if they were the same. Here we're using @insydium_ltd X-Particles to drive a nexus particle simulation from the millions of splat points directly. This opens the doors to tons of creative opportunities for splats via XP with the full stack of modifiers and controls to take your splat assets to the next level! Rendered with Octane 2026

You won’t believe what’s in store for 2026. But for now, we are wishing you a very Method Xmas! Don’t panic this isn’t a real project. This is the culmination of a lot of R&D to take arch viz to the next level. Very special thanks to @chriscook_photography for shooting the drone videos to make this Gaussian Splat surroundings. We caught up for coffee at Elouera and talked about collaborating to build a use case for splats. It’s just really ironic that we were there and was the location inspiration for a concept I did a while ago, Seabreeze. So as the universe has it, this is Seabreeze in theoretical context. I also want to thank @diospatial for their advice and guidance on learning how to build splats. Shoutout to: @realityscanofficial to align the camera data @jawset.visual.computing for PostShot to train the data and export the splat to .ply Chaos and @chaos.vray for loading the splat in @autodesk 3DS Max Then into Chaos Vantage to experience in #realtime and export this animation Absolutely incredible results. What you see is just a test case. How we roll this out in 2026 will change everything. We have come a long way in 2025, outrunning and outgunning AI “generations” at every turn. The reality is, we use AI to accelerate our work, whether it’s denoising or upscaling, it’s the incredible advances in realtime rendering that we should be talking about. Plus what we have just been able to create with Reality Scan and Postshot for the Gaussian Splat. Insane stuff. We have zero interest in wasting time using AI to generate images or ideas but we will harness every efficiency we can to deliver better work, faster. Working in realtime means we can deliver multi-dimensional, multi-format content with one consistent model to build trust in what you see. Experience the future you are building. Support Sound System Culture! This @voidacoustics system operated by @championsoundmpls holds a special place in my heart. I got engaged in front of them years back in Minnesota, never would have thought I would get the opportunity to listen to them from my balcony! @wangzoom & crew holding down the Moon Stage at @fetedemarquette really upped their game this year by booking a second set of Voids for the festival (@submersiveevents had theirs set up at High Noon). The closing sets each night by @djtoddterry & @dj_stingray_313 were absolutely amazing and encompassed a wide range of genres!
