I met André working on Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 99 show soundtrack. At the time, I had only scored two other shows, and André had no clue who I was. Needless to say, I was terrified to meet him. The music selection was difficult and I remixed the show over and over until the last hour. I arrived to the show venue bleary eyed, without any sleep and fearing the worst: that they wouldn’t like what I had created. I set the music and hit play. André was in the center of the runway waiting to hear the mix, he screams, “F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S!” to my instant relief. The show went on and was universally well received. Later that day André called and left me such a sweet voice message. And the next morning, when the press reviews came out and mentioned “the innovative music” André called again and left a second voice message, this time with even more bombastic compliments. From then on, he was always a champion and would wait backstage at shows DEMANDING a CD of the soundtrack, especially Carolina Herrera’s. I will treasure these memories and his support. He was one of a kind and will be forever missed. #andreleontalley
