This was Peter. We lost him on July 10, 2024. But honestly, I couldn’t post anything until now, Jan 23, his birthday. It was just too hard. Peter is/was one of the most paramount figures in my life. I can’t believe he’s gone. I love him and will miss him forver. Peter J. Keller, rest in peace.

About 18 years ago, I used to walk around New York City listening to @m83music super loud on my headphones. I was depressed and trying to navigate the big intensity of the city. Money. Breakups. Instability in general. That stuff. M83 was crushing and massive sounding. Echoing what I felt like I was facing. Monumental sound that made you feel like you were being torn apart or abducted by an alien or traveling through time and space. Experimental and noisy. And I fucking loved it. I still do. And last night, they played a bunch of my favorites from the first albums along with the new album. I was in heaven.
Last minute trip to Dallas. This is where I geek out. I had always wanted to stay at this just crazy glamorous hotel. The lobby exudes this 70s/80s vision of elite, power and hustle and bustle. Super fabulous.
When I was a kid I would spend hours looking at skyline photos of American cities in magazines and encyclopedias. I’d draw them and create my own fictional metropolises. We were didn’t have a lot of money but my mom subscribed to the New Yorker Magazine which had ads for posh hotels and resorts around the world. There was always a 1-800 number. So I’d call it and order the brochure to dozens of hotels and check out all the photos showing the architectural details and luxe designs. The Dallas Hyatt was always a total inspiration. Brutalist glamour.
I picture 80s TV shows like Dynasty or Dallas. Power lunches. Stuffy Black tie events disrupted by a throwdown cat fight between two rich bitches 😂).
My room overlooked Dealey Plaza where JFK was shot.
Boutique hotels are cool but sometimes this kind of stuff is where it’s at in random US cities.
