“The cover for this issue came together on our last night of the College Media Association trip in New York City. We squeezed it in before dinner with the dean after rushing uptown from the Statue of Liberty look out point. I dragged props through Times Square, coordinated and directed with student attendees from the trip, Dean Jason Shepard and our adviser Marie Loggia-Kee and watched the shot finally fall into place in the middle of the city.
The idea behind the cover was something I had been shaping for months. A single image meant to connect every corner of our college in one frame. For more about this trip and to see more of what this year’s issue has to offer, join us for ProComm Magazine’s release at our launch on May 14 from 4 to 7 PM at the College Park Patio.”

@csufcommdept@commcsuf Professor Jasmine Phillips hosted another amazing Spring Garden Flea Market at @arboretumatcsuf this week as part of her Events Planning and Mgmt class.
Had a whirlwind weekend trip to Wisconsin. Celebrated a former superstar student receiving distinguished alumni award. Had a nice walk across campus before torrential rain and tornado warnings/evacuations. Saw old colleagues and friends. Spent 24 hours with my mom, aunt, brother and family, and lots of dogs and cats. On Wisconsin!
“Cat Island” is about a mile up the beach and half-mile along the river. I began my mornings with a walk, bought a quart of shredded chicken at the market, and made new friends. It’s literally an island of friendly stray cats. So beautiful and peaceful.
Managing Editor Gregory Ferraro sat down with Dean Jason Shepard of @commcsuf for a Q&A that will be featured in the upcoming second edition of ProComm Magazine.
The interview highlights the students, staff and faculty who keep the College of Communications moving, as well as the college’s mission, the opportunities available to students and the work happening across all departments.
The next issue is on the way, and this Q&A offers a firsthand look at what’s ahead for the college. Don’t miss it.
