Montreal — Joining us for a rare 2 room edition on May 2nd is Jersey-born, NYC-based @shekdash known widely for his deep, groove driven music and eclectic + fluid DJ sets, and Zimbabwe-born, Amsterdam-based @stateofff___ , acclaimed for pushing gqom into new territory with heavy, global club mutations. @itskaylaab and @jamesbenjamin__ make their Moonshine debut, with residents @sanfarafina @niabi and Club Sagacité alumni @c.dez__ rounding things out for the night. @ponyio will be tearing it up on the mic and live percs, brass and string by @alex.ambroise.x @cithara_regem and ??? The ink is a custom black mixed with gold, giving the print a subtle metallic warmth. On the black on black version especially, the Breakglass logo and the map on the back catch the light with a slight gold shine. Designed by James Benjamin, the back graphic traces the north-south spine of central Montreal in a minimalist line drawing. Small dots mark some of the city’s legendary nightlife and afterhours venues, both current and now defunct, creating a quiet tribute to Montreal’s musical and cultural history. A big night for us in Montreal. Last weekend we celebrated the launch of Breakglass Records below Breakglass. At the door, guests used the IRL checkpoint to check in and unlock a free drink, creating a simple but meaningful entry point into the night. IRL’s support also helped us host a friends and family artist dinner catered by TNT Palace, which featured a beautiful hybrid piano performance by Fieldnote, one of the first wave of Breakglass Records artists. That mattered to us because Breakglass has always been about building real community around music in physical space. In a city like Montreal, scenes grow through people actually showing up, connecting, and sharing a room together. IRL helped make that visible and tangible at the door, then carry that energy into the full night. Thank you to everyone who came through and helped us mark the beginning proper. Une grande soirée pour nous à Montréal. Le week-end dernier, nous avons célébré le lancement de Breakglass Records sous Breakglass. À l’entrée, les invité·e·s ont utilisé le checkpoint IRL pour s’enregistrer et débloquer un verre gratuit, créant dès leur arrivée un point d’entrée simple mais significatif dans l’expérience. Le soutien d’IRL nous a aussi permis d’organiser un dîner amis et famille avec les artistes, préparé par TNT Palace, qui comprenait une magnifique performance hybride au piano de Fieldnote, l’un·e des premier·ère·s artistes de la première vague de Breakglass Records. C’était important pour nous, parce que Breakglass a toujours eu pour but de bâtir une vraie communauté autour de la musique dans un espace physique. Dans une ville comme Montréal, les scènes se construisent quand les gens se déplacent, se rencontrent et partagent une même salle. IRL a contribué à rendre cela visible et tangible à l’entrée, puis à prolonger cette énergie tout au long de la nuit. Merci à toutes les personnes qui sont passées célébrer ce début officiel avec nous.
