Shrimpy was our life. I’ve never had an emotional bond with an animal, or maybe even a person, like I did with him. He was my child. My light. My positivity. The love that taught and healed me. I believe he was sent down to this earth to teach me how to love, as I think most dogs are. He came into this world with a strong light, and that light burned ferociously and fast. His personality was soft, loving, hysterical and comforting. His attachments were strong, and his curiosity stronger. When we were told the news of him unexpectedly leaving this earthly plane while away on what we thought was a holiday (turned nightmare) I never knew what shock was. We bawled, we screamed - but we held each other as if he was still there. Our family is one third smaller and the void could fill oceans. The house is not the same. Not sure it ever will be. But he will come back…in his little ways. And I can’t wait. He changed me forever, and for that I am eternally grateful. Dogs are selfless beings, they are too good for this cruel world, and shrimpy really was the best of the best of them. His few short years here gave me more love and comfort than the previous 36, and I’ll never let go of the lessons he so selflessly taught me.
