Creating a fun effect frozen in time. The idea was to make the first half of the video feel slightly fake, like a staged stock photo. We used cleaner lenses with the Tokina Vista’s, harder light sources, and plenty of fill to give everything a crisp, overly lit look. For the second half, we flipped the look to feel more natural and grounded. We shot with vintage Zeiss Contax lenses, and used natural light with just a touch of shaping. Not only did this support the creative direction, it also helped logistically. The first half was shot in Sydney and the second in Queensland, so scaling down gear and crew for the latter made things a lot easier. A quirky little social piece for Freedom. We flipped the camera on its side to shoot vertically (3:4), and had some fun with VFX tricks and transitions. Creating a day for night look on this one. We tented the room to control the light and colour, but the real challenge was making it feel authentically dark, like actually being asleep with no lights on. We leaned into the look of subtle moonlight and street ambience creeping through in a soft cool wash, just enough to give ambiance to the room while keeping some shape and contrast.
