An opera based on a Gus Van Sant movie inspired by the final days of Kurt Cobain’s life, featuring costumes by Demna-era Balenciaga. That’s a real thing. It’s called ‘Last Days’ and is about to open at London’s Royal Opera House.
Leading the production as Blake (the character inspired by Cobain) is the actor @jakeldunn , who’s spent the past three-and-a-half weeks learning guitar, trying out acid blond wigs, and writing suicide notes on stage in preparation. While opera singers contextualise his life, his character stays completely silent. He sent us his camera roll from his prep period.
