In case you haven’t met me yet… 👋 Hello. I’m Jade, artist + snack enthusiast + general chaos coordinator. Some completely essential things you should probably know about me:
🥖 I’m never far from my next snack. Honestly, food = life. I’m pretty sure I was a hobbit in a past life.
☀️ I’m powered by the sun. Like, an actual solar panel. Give me warmth on my skin and I’m thriving.
🙈 I’m horrifically bad at small talk. Please know I’m not being rude… I just skipped that skill entirely.
📺 My 5 minutes of fame? Being on ITV showcasing my homemade marshmallows from my other business @bitesizebakehouse (yes, they’re delicious).
👩🎨 I’m the older sister half of @almacarastudio … so naturally I win 90% of sibling arguments. That’s just the rules.
📚 And I’m a big ol’ bookworm. Fantasy romance? Dark thriller? Give me your best recs — I’m always looking for my next read.
✨ So that’s a little peek behind the paintbrush. I’m so glad you’re here! Tell me something random about you in the comments — or let me know if we have any of these in common!
Whimsical Watercolours from the garden: Sit with me for a few moments whilst these florals appear. Light and loose watercolours splashes with a loose line drawn posey of flowers. They are so much fun to create. Will you try one?

Not finished but I thought I'd share anyway because they make me smile.
Lefty still needs some work balancing out but we are getting there. Hung these guys up in the bedroom so I can look at them and work out what it is that needs shifting to get them finished. Will percolate for another while and see what happens...
A painting for the stillness before the rest of the world wakes. Nothing is urgent yet. Everything is still and soft. It's a soft blue of colour on the horizon for the early risers that like to claim their day before anyone else.
It was actually a bit of a surprise painting this to be honest. I am the furthest from an early riser that you'll meet 😂🫠 but this is what I imagine it to feel like. Soft and only just stirring, hushed colours on the horizon only available for those that rose early enough to glimpse it!
If you are a sunrise lover... How did I do?! Is it completely different?! Tell me what you see/ what you feel? Not sure I'll make the real thing so answers on a postcard would be grand.

You've rearranged the room but it's still not ~quite ~ there. Nine times out of ten, it's the walls. They won't be working hard for you. Just sitting there, neutral and forgettable, while everything else is working overtime to fill the space..
A piece of art will give your whole room something to settle around. Colour, texture, personality.
...and how handy you should happen upon this little knowledge bomb and find me?! That's exactly what I create 👀 artworks that finally makes a home feel like the person living in it.
Commissions open. Link in bio.
Drop me a follow and let's see if we can find your painting that will make the room feel just like * you *.
Whimsical Watercolours from the garden: The sunshine is out so yellow felt right. A little brightness to fill your coffee break. 😉
Back in the swing of pulling out these Whimsical Watercolours and just enjoying how fun it is. They come together so quickly compared to my acrylic paintings and, although there is a rough idea when you splodge the colours down first and watch them mix, you don't really plan it at all before the pen hits the page!

Something a little different to start off this week!
I'm taking part in my first ever Cambridge Open Studios this summer (arghhhh!) and as part of being a new member, they offer the chance to be paired with a mentor for some advice. A way to help ease you in if you will. Obviously I jumped at the chance - happy to accept all the help I can find as I navigate this brand new landscape I know nothing about!
Today I met Jo, one of the COS mentors, and we talked about the work, the process, framing, pricing, pros and cons of various set ups, sizes, mediums and what Open Studios actually feels like from the inside. Absolute. Insider. GOLD.
I came away with so many ideas buzzing around my mind and just such warm feelings that this new community I'm dipping my toe into if full of gorgeously kind people. I was so nervous a few weeks ago attending the new artists event but everyone just wants to help you succeed rather than compete with you. 🙌🏽
It feels like im stepping into my artist era this summer 💃🏽 (terrifying, for the record and much easier to write that say out loud in person 🫠). So I decided to take you with me (Please come).
Follow along if you aren't already, I've said it out loud now so I'm going to have to make sure it's a good one, aren't I! 😉

Ahhh, bank holiday weekends with your glorious weather 🥰🥰 I just sat in the garden painting beautiful moments from April I wanted to hold on to. What did you fill your with?
Whimsical Watercolours from the garden:
Orange today. A little zesty lift for your feed! Let's see what comes out of these watercolour puddles and is pulled out into the page.
If summer is your season, then Solara is your girl.
Full saturation, filling you up with warmth any day of the year. Peach, magenta, green and gold (with real gold leaf that catches the light as you pass). Bold, joyful and entirely unapologetic about it.
She's 60x60cm and looking for the right wall. Maybe yours?
Details are just a DM away.
Xx
