Life lately: equal parts buttercream, paint splatters, packed bags, pancake crumbs, and fairy house quests...
This summer’s been a rollercoaster (and it's not over yet!)— wedding cakes out the door for @bitesizebakehouse , art coming to life over at @jadesart , kids fuelled almost exclusively by banana bread, blueberry pancakes and waaaay too much cheese, grandparents on speed dial and lots adventures squeezed in between it all.
Some days have felt like a sprint, others like a deep breath — but together they’ve made up a season that’s been full, messy, sweet, and one I’ll probably remember most for the mix of it all.
Here’s to the summer chaos. Wouldn’t change it... Assuming I do in fact survive it! 👀😬

Last weekend, the kids decided they wanted to open a Greek restaurant and who were we to say no*?! They made the signs (didn't have the heart to correct the “wayt” — 10/10 for hospitality), created calming wall art (think squirrels, sunsets, and a monster truck. Obvs), and proudly named it “Taverna”.
Mum and Dad were swiftly assigned kitchen duty 👀, and after a dash to the shops for some last-minute supplies, we ~just~ about got it together before their very important guests — Grandma and Grandad — arrived for service.
A very sweet afternoon of creative chaos, some Greek adjacent dishes (! Don't look too closely - we only had 1.5hr warning before being kicked into action!), and tiny restaurateurs taking it all very seriously.
By the end of lunch, we'd ended up with a jar full of countries written on little bits of paper so they can open with a different theme next time 🫠 We’ll be back for lunch again soon, I’m sure. Pray for those of us that were assigned kitchen duty indefinitely please...

This cake was all about delicate textures, a nod to each of their houses and just a whisper of wizardry.
Proof that themed doesn’t have to mean theatrical — it can be thoughtful, beautiful, and still get a knowing smile from the right people.
New week energy coming through… but here’s a throwback to one of last year’s wedding cakes.
A 3-tier buttercream build, sunshine outside, and me looking like I’m plotting a coup — when in reality I was just very focused on smooth sides and straight stacks.
She ended up dressed in a sweep of delicate pressed flowers and looking right at home in the sunlit venue.
A soft finish to all that serious face.
Anyone else get that expression when they concentrate? Just me? 🫠

But this is what’s quietly growing behind the scenes ATM.
Spinach’s doing great, the basil’s trying its best somewhere in amongst the forest of tomatoes plants, and I’m still far too proud of the blueberries that have popped up (just praying the birds don't get them before they ripen this year 🤞🏽) and baby carrots coming through. No clue what is happening with the broccoli, but I'm assuming it's going well?? It's our first rodeo with those...

A little break from the kitchen and into the vineyard!
I spent Friday morning volunteering at the beautiful @saffrongrange — I learnt all about the vines, rubbing down, and crown clearing (omg, I'd only just recovered from the Bloody Good Morning pilates session last Sunday and now I have wobbly thighs all over again! 😂 Very worth it though 😍).
They run various volunteer days throughout the year and i can't believe this was the first one I'd managed to get to. It was so refreshing to get outdoors, meet lovely people, and be able to see behind the scenes of the process that leads to their delicious local wine!
Not my usual work… but still a perfect pairing with thoughful sweet treats and slow living.
