Nice to get a bunch of cross races out of the system before settling back to ski season. It was great to catch up with everyone and see the whole community out, plus I got to meet a few new folks too. What a ridiculous sport! I still love it!
Finishing off Alumni week with a bang, we have Jack Tanner @jackthetanner ! A seasoned BJC rider and one of our talented Cyclocross coaches! Here's what he had to share about his time on BJC:
“I was a rider with BJC from 2008 to 2017. During that time I went from being scared to ride down a short hill at the research park to racing competitively and chasing uci points. I’ve got a lot of life long friends from BJC that I still hang out with nearly a decade later. I think there’s a lot about racing, and especially traveling to races that prepares you for a lot later in life. I felt like I came into college with so much self sufficiency, on and off the bike that I was able to make that an excellent experience too. My time with BJC built my attention to quality and to consistency, both of which are always assets in life. It’s the little things like how to give a firm handshake (Thanks Robson), or Pete teaching me how to glue tubulars.
I’m incredibly grateful to all the folks that made it happen, and in some cases are still with the team making it happen, and it’s been a really positive experience coming back to the team and coaching this next generation. I can’t wait to see the whole club out in force at Boulder cup this year!
We hope you enjoyed alumni week! Please consider donating to our Bike-a-thon fundraiser to help us get more kids on bikes!
Ripped some welsh gravel, ripped my sidewall too! The ol gel wrapper in the tire trick got me back on course, at which point I was just in it for kicks and gigs. Hard to be upset when there’s some fun singletrack on the course! @gloriousgravel
@bighorngravel was a ripper fun time. It was my first gravel race of the year, so I came in with no expectations. Since I don’t really get much volume in my training, and haven’t typically been a climber, I thought I was just gonna get my ass kicked. I really surprised myself in both of those categories though. It also really helped to have so much techy fun single track to utilize my handling skills. It was my first ride on the @wildernesstrailbikes vulpine 40s, and man do those tires rip. Kept picking up spots all the way to the line, even still having a decent sprint at nearly 5 hours of riding! (#greenjersey) I finished up the day in 10th with a time of 4:53. Who said a working man can’t race gravel?
Thanks to all the volunteers and staff who helped put on this super well run event!
So much fun at short track this summer. Thanks @boulderjuniors for keeping this Boulder tradition going! We all need more casual, fun, cheap racing!
Also much love to Brent for braving the mosquitos and thunderstorms to snap shots every Wednesday! 📸 @brentmurphyphoto
First big bike race @revolutionenduro eagle! Such a fantastic crew, and tons of really nice people out on the trails. Definitely looking forward to racing more of these!
