Thank you, @jackiefawn for creating this powerful art piece that spotlights our relatives who call Pe’ Sla home. In response to the U.S. Forest Service’s decision to issue a permit to Pete Lien & Sons to conduct exploratory drilling for graphite with a “categorical exclusion,” on April 1, NDN Collective, Black Hills Clean Water Alliance, and Earthworks filed a lawsuit against the USFS. About the Artist: Jackie Fawn (Yurok/Washoe/Filipina) is a graphic illustrator. Her art has been recognized in Indigenous spaces by vivid depictions of warrior women defending the land and people against modern-day colonialism. With the birth of her baby in 2021, Jackie’s recent art has been heavily inspired by parenthood, as it reminds her of the importance of fighting for a brighter future for the next generation. Her art has also begun to enter educational curricula, environmental organizations, and health campaigns to raise Indigenous resiliency and healing. She is a self-taught artist who has been greatly influenced by creative resistance tactics. Her work has been featured in galleries and museums throughout the U.S., at two galas in California, and on the cover of a published novel. About the Artwork: This illustration of this grandmother overlooks Pe’ Sla and all of its inhabitants that are threatened by extractions. The long-eared bat, the black hills mountain snails, and the Buffalo are entwined with the grandmother’s hair and her braided medicine, sweetgrass. This is a symbolic representation of the circle of life around Pe’sla. It is vital that we protect sacred sites and the life that lives within the precious ecosystems.

The Amazon impacts everyone. The earth is precious and we need to treat her as so. Say no to corporate exploitation! This includes mining, drilling, farming, deforestation. We must defend the future by defending the Amazon. #protecttheamazon #savetherainforest Part of an unreleased series from 2021.

Bay Area community screenprinted, painted and sent (w prayers and ♥️) patches in support of the Public Memorial for Renee Good in Minneapolis on Saturday. Thanks to Julie, Kyla, Marge, Joe, Anna, Ariel, Amanda, Deborah, Daniel, Debbie, Tom, Kristen, and Joy Design by @jackiefawn , who writes: "I incorporated the Dakota Sunspot - Potentilla flower as it has a star like center. It's a pretty yellow shrub that's super resilient. I really like how it's a bright star like flower. It's a flower shrub that thrives in full sun. Around her is a sun halo, a star on her heart to mirror the stars in the sky. " Thanks to @ndncollective for invite to support. Please join in prayer and spirit on Saturday. 🌼✊♥️

Tonight our tribal cheifes and MCA grand chief came and spoke at the Salmon River School District board meeting regarding "the box". This box was created to discipline kids with autism and behavioral issues. There is a lot happening at this district that is harmful and abusive towards lids with autism and disabilities. There were powerful aunties that organized, and even more powerful grandmothers who stood up to speak against this abuse. There's a live on Facebook of the whole meeting. (Its currently going on as I post this.) Niawen to Konwahahawi Herne (on FB) for the live broadcast. Families came forward. Ill try and post more but its been really intense. Keep these families in your prayers. Justice for our children. Terminate the superintendent and all those who stood behind this. #everychildmatters #autismawareness #disabilityjustice

In the midst of the complex emotions surrounding this day (Thanksgiving in the U.S.), we reflect on gratitude—not only for the land and water that sustains us but for the wisdom, resilience, and stewardship of Indigenous peoples who have cared for this Earth since time immemorial. Today, we honor the ongoing work of rematriation—“returning to the sacred mother.” Led by Indigenous women, this movement seeks to reclaim connections to tradition, culture, and identity, while restoring balance, healing histories, and renewing our collective commitment to the planet and its people. Rematriation reminds us of the sacred interconnection between all living beings and calls us to join in the work of healing and revitalization. As the world shifts and transforms, we are called to shift and transform with it, guided by the vision of a thriving, healthy, and connected planet. This vision is one we share with communities, families, friends, partners, colleagues, knowledge keepers, and those who have long stewarded the sacred bond between the land and life. Together, we can honor these traditions and take part in the healing of the Earth. 🌎💚 This powerful artwork was created by Jackie Fawn (@jackiefawn ) (Yurok, Wašiw, Surigaonon) for our colleagues at @sogoreatelandtrust . Visit Sogorea Te' Land Trust to learn how you can take action to heal and transform the legacies of colonization, genocide, and patriarchy, and support Indigenous land rematriation. This Thanksgiving, let us listen deeply to the wisdom of the Earth and the teachings of those who have cared for it across generations. This year has been rough. My heart aches and breaks for the peoples fighting to live through active gen O cide . All I have is this sketch thats been sitting there. I dont have much words to say. Im behind on all of my projects but im trying to complete em all by the end of the year. I'm trying to be present in my work and collaborations but it feels wild and absurd as billionaires, corporations, AI, and colonizers are actively killing the world. All I see are ADs these days and people I dont know. Social media is so warped. Prayers up to everyone. #FREETHEPEOPLE #Love4Palestine #Love4Congo #Love4Sudan #LovethePlanet #FokICE #endGenocide #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #HappyThanksgiving
